As mentioned in the post, ripe tomatoes are indeed safe for most of the tortoises, however they shouldn’t be the base of their diet. That’s why it is important to use them just as an addition to the green plants and flowers. The issue could come with unripe tomatoes or tomato plants, but in nature, tortoises should be able to distinguish what is good or bad for them and avoid toxic foods.
