Breaking: Mass Casualty Event Reported as Victims Flood Local Hospitals
There are conflicting reports involving what is being described as a mass casualty event in South Carolina overnight.
Warning: information is truly sketchy surrounding this event, but here’s what we know so far.
Reports started surfacing Sunday night that there was a large police response to a shooting in the Little River area of South Carolina, just northeast of Myrtle Beach.
This post was the first I saw of the event, initially indicating that 10 or more people had been shot:

As of the time of this writing, it appears that at least 11 people have been injured — this includes an Officer who purportedly took a bullet to the leg from his own gun in the chaos.
Some reports have indicated the shooting happened on the dock where the boat in this video operates from:

That information has yet to be confirmed.
The following video report gave an update earlier this morning from the ABC News affiliate out of Myrtle Beach, confirming that the event did happen and local authorities are still investigating:

There was no reported suspects in that story, but about the same time this morning Maria Nawfal posted an update including a report of a potential suspect.
According to Nawfal’s post, Police are saying a man dressed in black fired from the dock — presumably the dock of the boat in the previous video:
MEMORIAL DAY MAYHEM: 11 SHOT IN NORTH CAROLINA

Here is the text of Nawfal’s most recent update post:
A Memorial Day dock party in Little River turned chaotic after a gunman opened fire, injuring at least 11.
Police say a man in his 20s, dressed in all black, fired from the dock before vanishing. Strangely, no major outlet is calling it a “mass shooting.”
One officer reportedly shot himself in the leg.
No suspect, no motive, and no details so far.
Mainstream media is now reporting on the incident, though the information seems just as sparse as it did overnight.
The Horry County Police Department is promising more details, but is still asking the public to say away from the location of the shooting according to a report this morning from Fox News:
The Horry County Police Department is asking locals to steer clear of the area following reports of a mass shooting.
The incident occurred on Watson Avenue in Little River and police are saying that at least 11 individuals have been transported to area hospitals by Horry County Fire Rescue.
Police also said via social media that they have received reports of others arriving at area hospitals via personal vehicles.
No further information was immediately available.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” the Horry County Police Department said.
That was virtually the same information given out by the Police Department via social media last night when the story started to break:

The following video has surfaced, allegedly showing some of the aftermath of the shooting on the dock referenced by the Police.
Warning: this is a very bloody and gruesome video:
A story updated about an hour before this report indicated that no details about the injuries sustained by the victims has been released.
The Police are saying it was an “isolated” event (which does very little to reassure this writer, considering the timing and reports of impending homeland attacks from a resurgent al Qaeda), according to Newsweek‘s reporting:
Paramedics and private vehicles rushed victims to local hospitals after gunfire broke out in the town of Little River at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. During the chaotic aftermath, a police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg.
Details about the victims and their injuries have not yet been released, and the authorities have not revealed whether there was one shooter or multiple people firing during the incident.
Newsweek has reached out to Horry County Police Department by email, outside of usual office hours, seeking further information and comment.
Horry County Police Department sealed off the scene and are investigating what it said appeared to be an “isolated” event that posed no risk to the wider community.
“At this time, 11 individuals have been transported to area hospitals by Horry County Fire Rescue, and we have received reports of others arriving at area hospitals via personal vehicles,” Horry County Police Department said in a statement on Facebook.
The initial lack of details seems to be stretching in to the earlier morning hours of Memorial Day.
This is a developing story, and we will bring you more details and updates as information becomes available.
