After taking a two-year hiatus, the American Music Awards returned Sunday (5/26) Th pop-oriented event did have three Rock related categories, Linkin Park took the Favorite Rock Song honor with “The Emptiness Machine.” They beat out Green Day’s “Dilemma,” among others. Last year, “The Emptiness Machine” went to #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay and Mainstream Rock charts. The song was the lead single from “From Zero,” Linkin Park’s eighth studio album. The Favorite Rock Artist and Favorite Rock Album trophies went to Twenty One Pilots. Linkin Park and Pearl Jam were in the running for Favorite Rock Artist.
