Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who has been accused of being an antisemite and refuses to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada,” hasn’t even taken the oath of office yet, but the Big Apple has already been seeing plenty of disturbing anti-Jewish action.

On Wednesday evening, a sick group of pro-Hamas protesters descended upon the Park East Synagogue in a posh section of Manhattan and harassed Jews attending an event by Nefesh B’nefesh, an organization that helps Jews emigrate to Israel. They shouldn’t even be allowed to meet, according to the crowd of about 200. “It is our duty to make them think twice before holding these events,” one protest exhorted.
??? HAPPENING NOW OUTSIDE PARK EAST SYNAGOGUE
Antisemites have showed up outside Park East synagogue and are chanting for intifada.

Now, he gets to see the same human material that shattered the glass of synagogues in Berlin and Vienna in 1938, outside his own synagogue.
This is not about Gaza and has never been about Gaza.
This is an attack on the Jewish people.

The haters did their usual chanting and spewing act, something we've seen far too much of on college campuses and demonstrations across the nation.

The crowd also chanted “From New York to Gaza, globalize the intifada” to the beat of a drum.
A Jewish counter-protest assembled in the front of the synagogue and yelled back, “You’re cowards,” and blasted them for “protesting at a synagogue.”
Videos show NYPD officers at the scene separating the two groups behind a metal barricade, but no arrests were reported, according to the department…
The protest was led by the anti-Israel activist group Pal-Awda, which advertised the event as “No settlers on stolen land” and “Protest to stop the settler recruiting fair.”
The Times of Israel reported that the proceedings inside the synagogue continued despite the grotesque behavior outside:
A man in a kippah cursed at a protester, who shouted at him, “You’re part of a death cult.” Another woman shouted, “F****ing Jewish pricks,” while others called the Jewish demonstrators “rapists,” “racists,” and “pedophiles.”
Inside the synagogue, the event carried on, with Nefesh B’nefesh staffers welcoming attendees at a table near the front door.

Outgoing Mayor Eric Adams condemned the hate:

What happened at @PESynagogue last night was totally unacceptable no matter your faith or background. This type of protest and vile language should concern us all. When you desecrate one house of worship, you desecrate them all. I'll be visiting Park East Synagogue to stand with… https://t.co/AA7V6qdJcL

I'll be visiting Park East Synagogue to stand with our Jewish community when I am back in town.
What makes the matter even more disgusting is that the synagogue has stood on that spot since 1890, and has been led for decades by 95-year-old Holocaust survivor Senior Rabbi Arthur Schneier. He has been with the synagogue since 1963. I’m sure he prayed that he’d never see such obscenities outside his place of worship.
New York was a wonderful town, but it’s rapidly becoming less so as antisemitism proves once again it is alive and well and flourishing.
