Hegseth Undeterred by Fake News, Says 'We've Only Just Begun'

Hegseth defends actions against narco-terrorists amid fake news allegations. We've only just begun.

Pete Hegseth has been in the news a lot lately after the Washington Post dropped a damning report on the War Secretary the day after Thanksgiving (Friday), alleging that he ordered a second hit on a suspected narco-boat that the U.S. had struck with a missile. The second strike was supposedly aimed at killing the two survivors of the impact. “Kill everybody,” the report alleged Hegseth demanded.

As RedState’s Nick Arama and RC Maxwell reported Tuesday, Hegseth and the White House both say that’s a bunch of horse manure. Hegseth ordered the operation, but Admiral Mitch Bradley was in charge of ensuring the boat was neutralized and lawfully gave the order for the second strike.

Fake news is alive and well:

Although Democrats are shrieking about “war crimes” and demanding that Hegseth resign or be fired, the secretary said at Tuesday’s ninth Trump Cabinet meeting that he’s full steam ahead. In fact, he said, “we've only just begun”:

As I've said, and I'll it say again, we've only just begun striking narco boats and putting narco terrorists at the bottom of the ocean, because they've been poisoning the American people...

Joe Biden tried to approach it with kid gloves, and allowed them to come across the border, cartels to take over communities, 20 million people, hundreds of thousands of Americans poisoned, and President Trump said, no, we're taking the gloves off. We're taking the fight to these designated terror organizations — and it's exactly what we're doing.

So we're stopping the drugs, we're striking the boats. We're defeating narco terrorists...

Watch:

At this point in the meeting, President Trump jumped in to point out a very important statistic:

TRUMP: You may say one thing, that drugs coming in through the sea by sea are down 91 percent. And I don't know who the nine percent is.

HEGSETH: We've had a bit of a pause because it's hard to find boats to strike right now.

Which is the entire point, right? Deterrence has to matter, not arrest and hand over and then do it again, the rinse and repeat approach of previous administrations. This is meant to get after that approach, and I will just end by saying, as President Trump always has our backs, we always have the back of our commanders who are making decisions in difficult situations, and we do in this case, and all these strikes. They're making judgment calls and ensuring that they defend the American people. They've done the right things.

We'll keep doing that, and we have their backs, Mr. President.

TRUMP: Good job.

The mainstream/corporate/lame press will continue to undermine the administration, but the Trump Team has shown over and over that they’re not willing to take it lying down. In fact, on Thursday, as we reported, they rolled out a media bias website devoted to calling out the lying press for their fibs.

In the meantime, narco-terrorists, beware.
