ISIS Attack on US Troops in Syria

A lone gunman killed 2 US troops and their American interpreter near Palmyra, Syria. It was reported as an ISIS attack.

Two US troops plus one American interpreter were killed near Palmyra in Syria during a patrol early Saturday morning. Three other troops were also wounded. Both President Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth vowed retaliation upon learning of the attack. The perpetrator was killed in the situation, which was attributed to an “ISIS attack.” The perp was a member of Syrian “security forces” – also known as a green on blue attack.

It is unclear if the following video is actually from a retaliatory strike or from a previous strike in 2024. It is purported to be from this attack, but with the internet…who knows?

The soldiers killed were from the Iowa National Guard.

All the diplomatic rhetoric aside, no one can have coexistence with people who want to kill you. The “government” of Syria is run by a jihadist that once had a bounty on his head. Recent stories of attacks against Christians show that no matter what the relationship to America, jihadists are still terrorists at heart. As our President attempts to reform Syria, he has his work cut out for him.
