One of the things we’ve learned in Donald Trump’s second term is just how much money and support we’re giving to a seemingly endless list of organizations, NGOs, foreign governments, and think tanks that often don’t even support what’s best for America. Think, USAID, for starters.

On Wednesday, the president withdrew support from a whopping 66 of them, saying they didn’t further the American cause:
President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed a presidential memorandum directing the U.S. to withdraw from 66 international organizations that the White House said no longer serve American interests.
The White House said the directive orders all executive departments and agencies to stop participating in and funding 35 non-United Nations organizations and 31 U.N. entities that the administration concluded operate contrary to U.S. national interests, security, economic prosperity, or sovereignty.
The White House said the action follows a review of every international intergovernmental organization, convention, and treaty that the U.S. belongs to, funds, or otherwise supports.

When you read the list, you’ll find your jaw dropping at some of the entries, wondering why we were supporting them in the first place. A huge number of them — 31 — are affiliated with the United Nations, a body which often seems to work against us, even though we historically have provided a larger portion of the budget than any other nation.

The list of entities that we’re distancing ourselves from is long, but you can read it in its entirety on the White House website. Here’s a sample of things that make you go hmm:
- (i) 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact; [Do they turn the lights off at their meetings?]
- (ii) Colombo Plan Council; ["Just one more thing"]
- (iii) Commission for Environmental Cooperation;
- (xi) Global Forum on Migration and Development; [this one seems to have failed in its mission]
- (xii) Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research;
- (xiv) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change;
- (xxv) International Solar Alliance;
- (xxvi) International Tropical Timber Organization;
Here are some of the UN entities that stick out:
- (i) Department of Economic and Social Affairs; [Social affairs like cocktail parties?]
- (xiii) Peacebuilding Commission;
- (xiv) Peacebuilding Fund;
- (xv) Permanent Forum on People of African Descent; [Is there a forum on people for Asian or Eurpoean descent? Not seeing it]
- (xvi) UN Alliance of Civilizations;
- (xxviii) UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination;
- (xxix) UN System Staff College;
- (xxx) UN Water; and
- (xxxi) UN University. [I'd love to know what progressive slop they teach here.]
Listen, some of these programs may do some good, I can’t tell you that they don’t. But there’s an awful lot of them, many of them seem duplicative, and at least several seem like “make-work” efforts. Remember, this is just a partial list.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said many of the organizations that we’re ditching are “anti-American, useless, or wasteful”:
Today, President Trump announced the U.S. is leaving 66 anti-American, useless, or wasteful international organizations. Review of additional international organizations remains ongoing.
These withdrawals keep a key promise President Trump made to Americans - we will stop…

These withdrawals keep a key promise President Trump made to Americans - we will stop subsidizing globalist bureaucrats who act against our interests. The Trump Administration will always put America and Americans first.
Going forward, these orgs. can be useless and wasteful on their own dime.
Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump and his administration’s bold leadership, we are respected on the world stage, and our enemies are being put on notice.
