When two Tren de Aragua gang members—who have been involved in shootings and sex trafficking—were shot in a confrontation with ICE officers in Portland, the entire political establishment there came out in support of the gang members and demanded ICE leave. 

The Chief of Police initially tried to cover up who the illegal aliens were, and after being forced to admit that they were in fact Tren de Aragua, he continued to call them "victims," cried for their plight, and continued to assert that ICE was in the wrong and the gang members were in the right.

Portland Police @ChiefBobDay cries at a press conference after having to affirm that @DHSgov was correct in stating that the illegal Venezuelan migrants accused of trying to run down Border Patrol have ties to Tren de Aragua. Chief Day admitted that he hesitated to share the truth with the public.

On Jan. 8, Border Patrol non-fatally shot a man and a woman in east Portland after they allegedly tried to run down agents in a red pickup truck following a targeted stop. Internal communications about the incident, which was inaccurately blamed on ICE, were leaked to PDX ICE Watch by a Multnomah County first responder.

The entire city and state leadership, all run by Democrats, organized an emergency press conference to condemn the federal agents, reject DHS' statement and to express support with the violent suspects, who they called the "victims." Local and national media also misled the public about the shooting. A mob showed up to try to attack the ICE facility, leading to six arrests. The man literally cried for these criminals. The Mayor of Portland and the Governor of Oregon both came out in support of the "victims" and blamed ICE for the confrontation, which is the equivalent of blaming officers trying to arrest criminals for anything bad that happens when trying to serve a warrant for arrest of a violent criminal.

If the criminal resists, the logic goes, they have every right to do so, and law enforcement is always in the wrong. 

The race to defend the Tren de Aragua members began the moment the shooting happened. None of these politicians were at all interested in why the confrontation occurred. They sided with the criminals against the federal agents.

Democrats have been declaring open season on ICE and the Border Patrol for months, inciting violence against them, declaring they are not legitimate law enforcement, and calling legal arrests "kidnappings." Time and again, they have jumped in front of cameras, telling "protesters" to "put their bodies on the line," and encouraging people to commit felonies and even attack federal agents. 

Now we know at least part of why Portland is such a crime-ridden mess: the police chief is a weak man who sympathizes with members of the transnational, violent Tren de Aragua gang. Not to mention how wildly offensive this must be to the Latino community.

Nobody on the left seems interested in just who ICE is arresting, because they oppose any law enforcement ordered by Donald Trump. They want to eliminate ICE—that is not an exaggeration, it is their position and openly stated—and by doing so they want to ensure that people like this are on the street:

No doubt all those Portland and Oregon politicians and the Police Chief knew at least the basics of what these gang members did that got them shot. 

They were indifferent to the fact that they were trying to kill ICE agents. They believe violence against federal law enforcement is justified. They support and fund organizations that train people to confront and assault ICE and CBP. They side with criminals, including sex traffickers, rapists, and murderers. Their media accomplices leave out all the relevant facts that make it obvious why ICE is on the streets and rightfully feeling under attack.

I am not happy that Renee Good is dead. In fact, in a way, she is a victim of the left-wing agitators and politicians who sent her out to get killed. But when a CBP agent was ambushed and killed, none of these moral preeners cared, and the left came out and celebrated. Check out all the comments on this post. Look at that car in the ICE photos. The damage comes from attacking ICE agents and their vehicles. And the left is siding with the perpetrators.
