It’s been over five years since the George Floyd demonstrations roiled Minneapolis, burning large swaths of the city to the ground, but Minnesotans are back on the street this week protesting ICE actions in the Twin Cities. The issue came to a head as leftists went into rhetorical overdrive in calling for violent uprisings against the federal agency after an activist, Renee Good, attempted to interfere with operations. She was shot and killed by an ICE agent as she drove her vehicle toward him in a threatening manner.

As we have seen, the Democrats’ main weapon in attempting to kneecap the president’s agenda in his second term has been the courts. They were defeated at the ballot box, they are regularly defeated in Congress, and so they’ve discovered that their path to success is to find an activist judge to jump in off the third rope to issue a temporary restraining order or an injunction. It’s proven somewhat effective, as district judges have ruled against the administration dozens of times in recent months. There have been at least 500 challenges to his agenda, and injunctions thrown down on a seemingly daily basis.
On Monday, the state’s far-left Attorney General, Keith Ellison, decided it was Minnesota’s turn to roll the legal dice, as he announced the Gopher State has filed suit against the Department of Homeland Security:
The unlawful deployment of thousands of armed, masked, and poorly trained federal agents is hurting Minnesota. This federal invasion of the Twin Cities has to stop, so today I am suing DHS to bring it to an end. pic.twitter.com/ZSXvlmZphY

He named a slew of administration officials in his filing:
Minnesota and the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul sued the Trump administration Monday, seeking to block a massive federal immigration enforcement surge they say has flooded the Twin Cities with armed agents, sparked fear and unrest, and interfered with state and local authorities, according to court filings.
The lawsuit names Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem, top officials with DHS, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), including Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons and Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino, along with the federal agencies themselves.

In a news conference, Ellison threw out all sorts of progressive dogma as he claimed ICE was conducting a "federal invasion" and making "racist arrests."

"We’re here to announce a lawsuit we're filing against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to end the unlawful, unprecedented surge of the federal law enforcement agents into Minnesota," Ellison charged. "We allege that the obvious targeting of Minnesota for our diversity, for our democracy and our differences of opinion with the federal government is a violation of the Constitution and of federal law."
No, they’re not targeting you for your diversity, Keith; they’re targeting you because you’ve coddled an untold number of illegal aliens, you’ve allowed Somali fraud to flourish unchecked, and your state is the poster child of everything that’s wrong with progressive policies.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin was not impressed with Minnesota’s continued antics:
Keith Ellison made it abundantly clear today he is prioritizing politics over public safety. It really is astounding that the Left can miraculously rediscover the Tenth Amendment when they don’t want federal law enforcement officers to enforce federal law — which is a clear federal responsibility under Article I, Article II and the Supremacy Clause — and then go right back to federalizing every state responsibility possible when they get back in power. Spare us.
I would love to tell you that this is a frivolous lawsuit that will be quickly jettisoned by a competent jurist, but all too often, we have seen district judges shading decisions to align with their own ideological views. In the meantime, it feels like “here we go again.”
Editor’s Note: Democrat politicians and their radical supporters will do everything they can to interfere with and threaten ICE agents enforcing our immigration laws.
