Huge Development Out of Davos As Trump Announces 'Framework' for Greenland Deal, Will Drop Euro Tariffs

Trump announces Greenland deal framework at Davos, dropping Euro tariffs amidst tensions.

We know news was likely to come out of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this week, and it certainly has. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent absolutely roasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom, hilariously comparing him to a Ken doll, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told the elites that globalist orthodoxy was a failure, and Donald Trump vowed to make homeownership great again.

But on Wednesday afternoon, even bigger news dropped: the president announced that he had negotiated the “framework” of a deal regarding Greenland, the autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark that he wants the U.S. to control to counter Russia and China. Because of the breakthrough, he also announced that he will not go through with tariffs on European countries that were scheduled to go into effect in early February.

The president took to his favorite social media site, Truth Social, for the announcement:

The deal isn’t just about Greenland — it’s about the whole Arctic Region, Trump wrote:

Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region.

This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations.

Europe will now avoid the steep tariffs Trump had planned for eight countries:

Trump had threatened to levy tariffs on several European countries, saying that he would impose a 10 percent tariff on February 1, with an increase to 25 percent on June 1, on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Finland. He added they would apply "until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland."

Stock markets in the U.S. immediately saw gains following the announcement. Currently, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 1.5 percent.

Details of the framework have not yet been released, but Trump said his administration would be getting to work right away:

Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland. Further information will be made available as discussions progress. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations — They will report directly to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

If this pans out, Trump will have proven again that he truly has a rare flair for the Art of the Deal.
