SF Mayor Daniel Lurie's Security Team Attacked in Wild Scene — He Leaves Officers to Fend for Themselves

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie's security team attacked near Tenderloin; officers injured amid chaotic street confrontation.

It was a wild scene in San Francisco Thursday evening. Despite California leaders like Gov. Gavin Newsom telling us the Golden State is oh so safe and their lax approach to policing and dealing with criminals has done no harm, SF Mayor Daniel Lurie (D) found out otherwise in a wild and bloody smackdown near the city’s infamous Tenderloin District.

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie’s police security team was attacked Thursday evening near the edge of the Tenderloin, the city’s most infamous drug-plagued neighborhood — leaving an officer bleeding from the back of his head after a chaotic street confrontation.

The mayor was not hurt in the incident, which unfolded just before 6 p.m. near Cedar Street, according to Mission Local.

One San Francisco Police Department officer assigned to Lurie’s security detail was left panting and bleeding after he slammed his head during a struggle with a suspect.

Although the Democrat mayor has received high marks from some who claim he’s doing a good job in at least attempting to clean up the City by the Bay, he’s evidently not someone you’d want in your foxhole. I wonder if the cops assigned to him are looking for a new detail today, protecting someone who gives a hoot about their safety:

Mayor Daniel Lurie is seen watching his security officer struggle with a man, then turning and walking away as the officer is slammed to the ground, hits his head on the pavement, and is left bleeding.

Here’s how it went down:

The mayor had been riding in a black SUV with the officer and a driver — also a cop — when three people allegedly blocked the vehicle in the street.

Lurie jumped out of the SUV and asked the group to move, the injured officer told responding cops.

At first, the trio appeared to comply. But things quickly took a turn when one man began “talking gibberish,” the officer said.

The guy suddenly came at the officer, and what followed was a serious scuffle where the cop ended up falling backward and hitting his head, leaving him bleeding. Another officer was struggling with a different guy. When the main attacker was finally subdued, he reportedly shouted, “F–k you!” as officers slapped cuffs on him.

Cops also arrested a second person. The wounded officer did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

California is extremely, extremely safe. Its policies are effective, humane, and just. Just ask its leaders.

When they're not being attacked.
