The College Republicans chapter at UC San Diego is speaking out after a flyer posted on campus promoting a conservative event was covered up with three large pictures of the exact moment in which conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated.

Surrounding the images of Kirk getting shot, blood coming out of his neck as he falls back, are the words “Charlie Kirk had it coming.”

The flyer was also covered with a graphic of Hitler blowing his brains out with a gun and the words: “Hey fascists, do the world a favour, follow your leader!”

The violent images were posted over a flyer advertising a March 3 Young America’s Foundation event titled “Keep men out of women’s sports” featuring Paula Scanlan, a women’s sports advocate.

As for the vandalism, the College Republicans chapter at UC San Diego is denouncing its violent nature.

“This behavior is vile, disturbing, and completely unacceptable. We strongly and unequivocally condemn this blatant display of hatred and the open endorsement of political violence and extremism,” the group said in a March 6 statement.

“It is deeply troubling to see individuals within our community not only tolerate but actively promote violence and harm toward others simply because they hold different political views,” the statement continued.

“No community that claims to value civil discourse, tolerance, or basic human decency should accept this kind of conduct. Glorifying violence against political opponents is not activism. It is extremism.”

The College Republicans called for disputes to be resolved with “conversations and debate.”

UCSD YAF also denounced the vandalism in a March 6 statement on Instagram: “Liberals at the University of California San Diego have repeatedly vandalized posters of our event with @paulayscanlan with calls for violence condoning the assassination of Charlie Kirk. This behavior is disgraceful and psychotic.”
