NYC had an ISIS-inspired bombing after two men threw IEDs at anti-Islam protesters over the weekend. The two men, Amir Balat, 18, and Ibrahim Kayumi,19, are currently in Federal custody in Manhattan. They allegedly used ISIS-inspired statements such as “Allahu Akbar” and holding up one forefinger (a signature ISIS move) as they were being arrested.

The anti-Islam protest near Gracie Mansion in NYC was organized by Jake Lang, one of those arrested from the January 6 riot. Mayor Mamdani referred to him as a “bigot” and “white supremist”, while conservative media called him an “influencer.” Mamdani downplayed the ISIS-inspired attack (not unsurprising after his wife “liked” posts celebrating the October 7 attacks in Israel).

So Jake Lang is a “white supremacist”, but you can’t even call the Allahu Akbar-shouting Islamic terrorists who threw a bomb at him for what they are? Interesting.

The FBI executed search warrants on residences in Buck County, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as conducting a search of a vehicle.

“The NYPD Bomb Squad has conducted a preliminary analysis of a device that was ignited and deployed at a protest yesterday and has determined that it is not a hoax device or a smoke bomb. It is, in fact, an improvised explosive device that could have caused serious injury or death.” Jessica Tisch, NYC Police Commissioner

The IEDs thrown by the two men “contained nuts, bolts and screws, and contained a chemical substance inside a taped canister fitted with a fuse.” Not a hoax device. The devices are being sent to the FBI lab in Quantico.

Federal terrorism charges included attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, use of a weapon of mass destruction, transportation of explosive materials, interstate transportation and receipt of explosives, and unlawful possession of destructive devices. According to ABC, the two men hoped to have created even more destruction than the Boston bombing.

The ISIS-inspired attackers will be prosecuted by the Federal Government.
