Patriots, it is long past time we stop pretending the Democratic Socialists of America are just another quirky faction inside the Democrat Party. They are not. They are running a hostile takeover of that party and using it as a delivery system for policies that match the exact transitional stage from capitalism to communism that Marx, Engels, and Lenin described. The Communist Control Act of 1954 is still on the books in 2026 at 50 U.S.C. sections 841 through 844. It declares the Communist Party an instrumentality of a conspiracy to overthrow the government and strips it of legal privileges. Congress never repealed the core of that law. Eisenhower signed it after near-unanimous votes. Yet the DSA and the Democrat liberals who enable them keep pushing the same program under softer names while the law sits unused. Putting lipstick on that pig does not change its nature. Adding the word ‘democratic’ doesn’t cancel the socialism. Putting lipstick on that pig does not change its nature. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Actions and policies that even resemble socialism must be called what it is and be held accountable no matter what slogan they hide behind.
The framers of socialism never hid the truth. Socialism is the transitional stage. Lenin spelled it out in The State and Revolution. He took Marx’s lower phase of communist society and called it socialism. Between capitalism and full communism sits the dictatorship of the proletariat. That dictatorship uses state power to seize the means of production, crush private ownership, and clear the path for the final stage. Every regime that tried it followed the same road. The Soviet Union, China under Mao, Cuba, Cambodia, and Venezuela all started with talk of workers and fairness and ended with mass graves, secret police, and ruined economies. The body count tops one hundred million. Anyone who claims democratic socialism is somehow different is either lying or has never read the source material.
That framework is pure poison to the United States Constitution. The Fifth Amendment protects private property. Socialism demands the state take control of factories, energy, transportation, and capital. That is theft dressed up as justice. The First Amendment protects speech and assembly. Socialist systems silence dissent because dissent threatens the plan. Our Constitution requires a republican form of government with separation of powers. The DSA platform openly calls for tearing that structure down. In their 2025-2026 program titled Workers Deserve More, released in July 2026, they demand a new democratic socialist constitution based on proportional representation in a single federal legislature. That means abolishing the Senate. They want to limit the Supreme Court’s power of judicial review and replace the President and the Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress. They call for abolishing the Electoral College and giving voting rights to non-citizens and convicts. That is not reform. That is a full-scale assault on the constitutional order the Founders built.

The DSA is not some fringe group shouting from the sidelines. They are seizing control of the Democrat Party from the inside.
Look at the rest of their platform. They demand public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries including energy and transportation. They want a 32-hour workweek with no cut in pay, free Medicare for All with no premiums or deductibles, free college complete with room and board, cancellation of all student debt, universal rent control, and taxpayer-funded social housing. On immigration they call for abolishing ICE, ending all deportations and detention, immediate amnesty for every illegal immigrant, and freedom of movement that erases national borders. On foreign policy they demand defunding the Department of War, closing every overseas base, ending economic sanctions on Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran, and free Palestine language that treats Israel as the enemy while soft-pedaling terrorists. They want to abolish the carceral forces of the capitalist state, meaning police and prisons. This is not a list of mild progressive wishes. This is the transitional socialist program written in plain English.
The DSA is not some fringe group shouting from the sidelines. They are seizing control of the Democrat Party from the inside. In 2026 their endorsed candidates have toppled longtime Democrat incumbents in New York congressional primaries. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, backed a slate that wiped out establishment Democrats. Candidates tied to the DSA have won or advanced in races across Oregon, California, Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and more. They have endorsed roughly 150 candidates this cycle with dozens advancing. DSA co-chairs openly admit they use the Democrat Party as a ballot-access vehicle. They build their own organization, get elected under the Democrat label, caucus with Democrats when it is useful, and then push their own agenda. One co-chair stated they do not agree with how the Democrat establishment runs the party and focus on moving independents into positions of power inside it. National Review, The Atlantic, and multiple Democrat strategists have called this a hostile takeover. Centrist Democrats like James Carville and former DNC chair Jaime Harrison have warned that these candidates have no place in the party and that the party is being hijacked. Yet the Democrat leadership keeps absorbing them instead of expelling them.
The DSA platform itself says complete victory requires building a new society from the ground up and creating a democratic socialist republic. That is the language of replacement, not reform. When Democrat politicians and voters keep electing these people and adopting pieces of their platform, they are advancing the same program whether they say the word socialism or not. Actions that resemble socialism must be treated as socialism. The duck test is not optional.
The original Communist Control Act faced court challenges on First Amendment, due process, and bill of attainder grounds. In Communist Party USA v. Catherwood the Supreme Court avoided the big questions. Yates v. United States required proof of concrete advocacy of force rather than abstract doctrine. Brandenburg v. Ohio set the test that speech can be punished only when it is directed at producing imminent lawless action and is likely to do so. We can revise the Act to meet every one of those standards while closing the loopholes the DSA and their Democrat enablers exploit.

The time for half measures is finished. Congress must revise the Communist Control Act of 1954
Expand the congressional findings with the current evidence. Document how the DSA platform and the candidates it elects openly seek public ownership, the dismantling of constitutional structures, the abolition of borders, and the subordination of the military and courts. Show the continuum from their democratic socialism to the full transitional dictatorship exactly as Lenin described it. Redefine covered organizations to include any group, whatever name it uses, whose documented purpose or practice includes establishing socialism or communism through force, fraud, or the systematic destruction of constitutional protections for private property, free speech, and republican government. Require proof that the organization aims at the transitional stage. That kills the bill of attainder claim because punishment follows proven individual conduct.
Protect pure speech while targeting organizational power. A person can still argue socialism is wonderful on a street corner. What they cannot do is form or join a structured organization that works to seize government power for the purpose of abolishing constitutional rights. Strip those organizations of ballot access, tax exemptions, nonprofit status, and access to federal funds or contracts. Force them to operate without the privileges law-abiding parties enjoy. Update the foreign influence provisions. Modern socialist movements often draw ideological direction and support from regimes hostile to the United States. Require disclosure and treat knowing collaboration as an aggravating factor. Set clear standards that match Brandenburg. Focus on advocacy of force or concrete steps toward the transitional dictatorship, not on vague talk about equality. Give prosecutors tools and require judicial warrants and due process at every step.
These revisions turn a 1954 statute into a modern tool that courts cannot dismiss as vague or unconstitutional. The revised Act would still declare that any political movement whose core goal is the socialist transitional stage is incompatible with the Constitution and therefore not entitled to the full privileges of legal political association. The DSA platform walks and quacks exactly like that stage. So do the Democrat politicians who keep elevating DSA candidates and adopting pieces of their agenda. The name on the label does not matter. The actions do.
The Democrat liberals who soft-sell this poison wrap it in words like equity and fairness while they expand government control over energy, healthcare, housing, speech, and the border. They defend candidates who praise the DSA platform or run on it. They attack anyone who points out the historical body count as a fearmonger. Some of them are useful idiots who never read Marx or Lenin. Others know exactly what they are doing. They treat the Constitution as an obstacle to be dismantled rather than a binding charter. Their support for DSA candidates and DSA policies is a direct attack on the system that protects every American’s right to own property, speak freely, and live under a republican government. Patriots should feel zero sympathy. Their ideas have produced tyranny every time they have been tried. Their feelings about being called out do not matter. The Constitution is not a suicide pact, and we are not required to pretend that people working to replace it with a socialist transitional dictatorship are just another legitimate faction.
The original Act was written when Americans still remembered the Soviet purges and the Iron Curtain. Today we have the additional evidence of China’s social credit system, the Uyghur camps, Cuba’s misery, Venezuela’s collapse, and the DSA’s own written platform calling for a new constitution, public ownership, open borders, and the subordination of the military and courts. We also have open DSA-backed candidates winning Democrat primaries and taking office while Democrat leaders absorb them instead of rejecting them. The revised Communist Control Act gives Congress and the executive the tools to draw a bright line. Organizations and individuals who knowingly advance the socialist transitional program forfeit the legal privileges of normal political parties. They can still speak. They cannot claim the full protection of a constitutional system they seek to destroy. Putting lipstick on that pig changes nothing. If the policies walk and quack like socialism, they must be treated as socialism and held accountable under a revised and enforceable law.
The time for half measures is finished. Congress must revise the Communist Control Act of 1954 with precise language and due process protections that close every past court objection and that capture organizations whose actions and platforms advance the socialist transitional program no matter what name they use. Then the Justice Department must enforce it against groups and individuals who knowingly push that program. Americans who still believe in the Constitution, private property, national sovereignty, and ordered liberty have a duty to demand this action from every representative and senator. The alternative is continued drift toward a system the Framers of both our Constitution and of socialism itself understood to be incompatible. We either defend the constitutional order or we watch it be replaced by the transitional dictatorship the socialists have always sought. There is no middle ground that keeps the Republic intact.
