In my oppinion, the misconception that the USA is, or ever was intended to be, a democracy needs to be extinct. It was designed as, geniusly, a Representative Republic. The people democratically elect their representatives who speak, and vote, on matters based on the impact to, and the wishes of the people of, their respective district... each representative having a single vote of equal weight of every other representative no matter the actual population of the different districts. This prevents mob rule and frivolous implimentation of policies based on the "cause du jour". If anybody was taught different in school, even of the older generations, it is only proof of the infiltration of our school systems by the left dating back a long, long, way. They've actual been at it for 100 years... the first hard proof of effectiveness rising with the fucking hippies in the 60's.
