DOMESTIC. The parliamentary parties agree on the Swedish arms deliveries to war-torn Ukraine, and no criticism of the measure has been seen at all in the media. Despite this, a clear majority of Swedes were against the proposal.
Commander-in-Chief Micael Bydén announced in SVT's "Agenda" on Sunday evening that the Swedish arms deliveries have arrived in Ukraine.
These include 5,000 armored shots to be used against Russian anti-tank vehicles and tanks.
In the Riksdag, almost full agreement was reached that Sweden would send weapons to the war. When it emerged that the Left Party as the only party was against the proposal, it caused an outcry, and the V party board was summoned to "reconsider" the decision.
A survey from Expressen / Sifo made on 25 February showed, however, that there was strong opposition to the proposal among the Swedish population. Only 39 percent stated that they thought Sweden should assist Ukraine with weapons.
Despite this, Expressen chose to put the headline: "This is how the Swedes want to support Ukraine: Send weapons."
Later the same day that Expressen's article was published, the government announced its decision on arms deliveries.
