Trump‚ RNC Posts Impressive Fundraising Haul In March‚ But Remain Far Behind Biden’s War Chest

The Trump campaign and Republican National Committee (RNC) reported a March fundraising haul of $65.6 million‚ giving the former president $93.1 million cash on hand as he attempts to catch up to the Biden campaign’s numbers‚ according to POLITICO. While the impressive haul still falls short of the Biden campaign and Democratic National Committee (DNC)‚ it is a welcome sign for Trump’s team as the presumed Republican nominee campaigns around the country‚ preparing for a rematch against President Joe Biden. Trump’s $65 million haul last month is more than the amount his campaign received in March 2020 when he posted $62 million. The Biden campaign has yet to report its fundraising numbers for March‚ but at the end of February‚ the president‚ along with the DNC‚ ended with around $155 million on hand after both Team Biden and the DNC raised $53 million in the month. Biden’s team also reported raising $25 million from a single event last week featuring former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Meanwhile‚ Trump is set to start April with a major fundraising event at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday‚ where his aides expect the campaign to pull in more than $40 million‚ POLITICO reported. Trump’s 2024 war chest and fundraising effort have been hampered by his numerous legal battles‚ which require him to pay millions of dollars in legal fees‚ amounts some political action committees are helping cover when their funds would usually be used to boost Trump’s candidacy. Earlier this week‚ the former president posted a $175 million bond in his New York civil business fraud case — an amount significantly lowered by an appeals court panel. The bond acts as a guarantee of payment if Judge Arthur Engoron’s $464 million judgment is upheld. If Trump ultimately loses his appeal‚ he will still have to pay the full amount of Engoron’s judgment‚ which grows in interest every day‚ Fox News reported. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP While Biden continues to dominate with fundraising‚ Trump boasts a polling lead nationally and in seven major battleground states‚ according to the RealClearPolitics average. A poll released Tuesday from The Wall Street Journal showed Trump ahead of Biden in six of the seven battleground states‚ with Wisconsin being the only exception.

‘The War Would Be Over In 3 Days’: Sunny Hostin Says U.S. Should Stop Aiding Israel‚ Cohost Immediately Fires Back

Sunny Hostin said on Wednesday that the United States should stop sending aid to Israel in the ongoing war against the terror group Hamas‚ claiming that if that happened‚ “the war would be over in three days.” Hostin made the remarks during Wednesday’s broadcast of “The View‚” and her apparent suggestion — that the U.S. should step aside and let Hamas win — provoked an immediate rebuttal from liberal cohost Joy Behar. “The United States‚ the U.N. has found‚ is complicit‚” Hostin said of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. “That is because the United States sends $3.8 billion worth of aid to Israel‚ and that also includes arming them. Social scientists have found that if the United States stopped providing that aid —” Several of Hostin’s cohosts began talking at once then‚ but she pushed ahead with her point. “—can I just finish this? The war would be over in three days‚” Hostin continued‚ clearly implying that U.S. aid and arms were the only factors preventing Israel from being wiped out‚ and in short order. “You know when the war would be over? If the — Hamas would release the hostages‚” Behar shot back‚ over objections from Hostin. “That’s when the war would be over.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Hostin went on to argue that there were Americans who would vote based on their disappointment in President Joe Biden’s continuing support to Israel‚ adding that she believed Biden was “listening.” WATCH: Staunchly racist and anti-Semitic Sunny Hostin advocates for the U.S. to abandon Israel and give Hamas terrorists the W:"…if the United States stopped providing that aid‚ the war would be over…in 3 days."Behar says the war would end if Hamas released the hostages. pic.twitter.com/sdcTYR0bDf — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) April 3‚ 2024

Biden Admin Nixes Plan To Help Refill Strategic Petroleum Reserve

On Wednesday‚ the Biden administration announced that it was stepping back from a plan to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) following a significant drawdown in recent years. Bloomberg News reported the decision marks a reversal from last month’s announcement to solicit up to 3 million barrels to a Louisiana site in August and September. It also coincides with crude oil prices reaching their highest level in months as geopolitical tensions increase. The Energy Department claimed to be “keeping the taxpayer’s interest at the forefront.” The agency said‚ “We will not award the current solicitations for the Bayou Choctaw SPR site and will solicit available capacity as market conditions allow‚” adding‚ “We will continue to monitor market dynamics.” Started in 1975‚ the SPR is “the world’s largest supply of emergency crude oil … established primarily to reduce the impact of disruptions in supplies of petroleum products and to carry out obligations of the United States under the international energy program‚” according to the Energy Department. The SPR plummeted to its lowest level in decades in 2022 after the Biden administration announced a 180-million-barrel drawdown in an attempt to stabilize global oil markets and combat rising gasoline prices. Recent data showed the SPR at 363.6 million barrels — far below the authorized storage capacity of 714 million barrels — after it topped 600 million barrels as recently as late 2021. U.S. oil futures rose to $85 per barrel for the first time since October on Tuesday‚ which MarketWatch attributed to concerns about a direct conflict between Israel and Iran following a strike in Syria that killed a top Iranian commander. Also mentioned in the report were Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil facilities. The Biden administration has made declarations since late 2022 pledging to work toward repurchasing crude oil for the SPR. Just last week‚ the Energy Department said it purchased 2.8 million barrels for a site in Texas despite the cost being $81 dollars a barrel‚ $2 over the U.S. target price‚ making for a total of 32.3 million barrels of oil brought for the SPR at an average price of $76.98. The news on Wednesday that the agency was backing away from the solicitation for 3 million barrels meant for the Louisiana site in Bayou Choctaw drew fresh criticism. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “It’s pure insanity to watch the Biden Administration cut American oil production and then claim they can’t refill our critical reserve because of the price‚” Daniel Turner‚ founder and executive director for Power The Future‚ said in a statement‚ according to Fox Business. “[President] Joe Biden drained the SPR for political reasons‚ cut our domestic production for his climate agenda‚ and now he’s leaving our critical reserve more vulnerable because he’s incompetent‚” Turner added. “As a result‚ Americans are paying more at the pump‚ more at the grocery store and our SPR is less full during a time of rising turmoil in the Middle East.”

Seattle Public Schools Cites ‘Equity’ In Shutting Down Gifted Program With Majority White And Asian Students

Seattle Public Schools Cites ‘Equity’ In Shutting Down Gifted Program With Majority White And Asian Students

Seattle Public Schools is shutting down its program for gifted and talented students‚ where the majority are white or Asian‚ citing “equity” concerns. The school board voted to scrap its Highly Capable Cohort program in 2020 after a 2018 survey found that only 3.7% of participating students were Hispanic and 1.6% were black. Meanwhile‚ 11.8% were Asian‚ and the majority were white. “Numbers would suggest that within our city … predominantly white children are more gifted than other cultures and races‚ and we know that is absolutely not true‚” Kari Hanson‚ the district’s director of student support services‚ told Parent Map in 2018. “Clearly we’re not identifying our children of color and we need to get down to why‚” Hanson said. The district began phasing out the gifted program in the 2021-22 school year‚ and it will be gone entirely by the 2027-28 school year. Starting next year‚ every school will have a new “more inclusive” Highly Capable Neighborhood School Model. “The program is not going away‚ it’s getting better‚” the school district said in a release. ”It will be more inclusive‚ equitable‚ and culturally sensitive. “In particular‚ students who have been historically excluded will now have the same opportunities for services as every other student and get the support and enrichment they need to grow‚” the district said. Currently‚ the district has three elementary schools‚ five middle schools‚ and three high schools for students in the Highly Capable Cohort program. Under the new program‚ gifted students will not be separated from other students but will remain in the same classroom‚ and teachers will have to develop individualized education plans for each student. Critics argue that the new model puts an unfair burden on teachers who do not have the time or resources to give 20 to 30 students an individualized plan‚ especially since the district is currently facing a $105 million deficit. Some parents also worry that the new model will overlook more advanced students. Minority representation in the Highly Capable Cohort program has improved since 2018. In the 2022-23 school year‚ 8.2% of gifted students were Hispanic‚ and 3.4% were black. The school district is made up of about 14% Hispanic students and 15% black students. Nevertheless‚ it is still replacing the program after years of attacks from critics. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP In 2021‚ Rita Green‚ the education chair of the Seattle Chapter of the NAACP‚ called for the elimination of Seattle’s gifted program. “We want the program just abolished. Period. The Highly Capable Cohort program is fundamentally flawed‚ and it’s inherently racist‚” Green said. The district’s decision also comes amid broader criticism of gifted programs due to equity concerns. In 2021‚ then-New York City Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio ordered the city’s elementary schools to stop testing for giftedness.

Karine Jean-Pierre Scrambles When Asked Why Biden Isn’t Moving Ahead With Plan To Refill Oil Reserves

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre appeared to short-circuit during Wednesday’s briefing‚ struggling to come up with an answer when pressed on President Joe Biden’s decision not to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as previously promised. Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy prefaced his question with a reminder that Biden had promised to refill the SPR‚ claiming that he was only draining it to compensate for the spike in gas prices that he had blamed on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. “First‚ the — so‚ you guys started draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to try and help with ‘the Putin Price Hike’ a few years ago. Said you were going to refill it. But now it doesn’t seem like that’s happening. Why?” Doocy asked. I know there are certain components to that and how they were going to move forward and refilling — refilling it. Uh — I — they would have had more specifics on that for you‚” she said. Reports broke earlier on Wednesday stating that the Biden administration would not be refilling the SPR as originally planned‚ citing the high cost of oil as a barrier to getting that done. The Department of Energy has canceled its latest tender for crude oil for the replenishment of the strategic petroleum reserve after oil prices moved higher than the DoE is comfortable with. Adam Sandler And More Hollywood Stars React To Comedian Joe Flaherty’s Death

Adam Sandler and more Hollywood stars reacted on Tuesday to the news that the original cast member of the hit SCTV series comedian Joe Flaherty had died at 82. Flaherty — who played memorable characters on the popular Canadian sketch comedy series in the late 70s and early 80’s before he appeared in movies like “Happy Gilmore” and TV shows like “Freaks and Geeks” — died Monday after a brief illness‚ Flaherty’s daughter Gudrun told the Canadian Press. “Dad was an extraordinary man‚ known for his boundless heart and an unwavering passion for movies from the ’40s and ’50s‚” the daughter’s statement read. “His insights into the golden age of cinema didn’t just shape his professional life; they were also a source of endless fascination for me. In these last few months‚ as he faced his health challenges‚ we had the precious opportunity to watch many of those classic movies together — moments I will forever hold dear.” Joe Flaherty‚ the actor‚ writer and comedian known for his roles on the Canadian sketch comedy series ‘Second City Television’ and ‘Freaks and Geeks‚’ has died at the age of 82‚ his daughter confirms. https://t.co/t7gt5J6E2L — NBC News (@NBCNews) April 3‚ 2024 Shortly after news of his death surfaced‚ stars like Sandler‚ Mark Hamill‚ and more shared tributes to the actor/comedian‚ The Hollywood Reporter noted. “Oh man. He crushed as border guard in ‘Stripes.'” “Couldn’t be more fun to have him heckle me on the golf course‚” he added. “The nicest guy you could know. Genius of a comedian. And a true sweetheart. Perfect combo. Much love to his kids and thanks to Joe for all the greatness he gave us all.” Flaherty’s “Freaks and Geeks” co-star John Francis Daley took to X and wrote‚ “Joe Flaherty made me crack up so hard it ruined takes. What a lovely guy.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP And “Freaks and Geeks” creator Paul Feig wrote‚ “So sad to hear about dear Joe. He was my TV dad and a true comedy hero. Always happy to tell any story about your favorite SCTV sketch‚ he was just the greatest guy. I will truly miss him and always be grateful to have known him. Rest in comedy‚ Joe.” “Star Wars” legend Mark Hamill shared on social media that‚ “SCTV was easily one of the greatest sketch comedies in the history of television with some of the most brilliant comic actors ever assembled in one show. Thank you Joe Flaherty- your legacy of laughs will last from here to eternity.” While comedian Joe Green wrote that‚ “So sorry to hear about the loss of comedy legend Joe Flaherty today. One of my true heroes from SCTV. Growing up watching him made me think about comedy in a completely different way.” “I was so lucky to get to work with him and spend time with him‚” he added. “In fact he was our first celebrity guest on ‘The Tom Green Show’ and I was so excited to interview him – before we we were on MTV on this clip from a pilot we shot for the CBC in Ottawa Canada in the late 1990’s. Wisconsin Voters Approve GOP-Backed Amendment To Ban Private Funding For Elections

Voters in Wisconsin approved two election-related amendments to the State Constitution on Tuesday‚ including one that bans the use of private money for election administration.  The Republican-backed amendments came after Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg spent millions backing groups that funded election administration in counties across the country‚ including in Wisconsin‚ during the 2020 election. Critics argued that the massive amount of election funding distributed to non-profit groups‚ known as “Zuckerbucks‚” unfairly benefited Democrat-dominated counties. The initiative to ban private funding‚ Question 1‚ passed with 54% of the vote in favor and nearly 46% against. A section will now be added to the State Constitution that says “private donations and grants may not be applied for‚ accepted‚ expended‚ or used in connection with the conduct of any primary‚ election‚ or referendum‚” The Hill reported.  The second initiative‚ Question 2‚ defined who can administer various aspects of elections. It passed with nearly 59% supporting and 41% opposed. It stipulated that “only election officials designated by law may perform tasks in the conduct of primaries‚ elections‚ and referendums.” Opposition to the two amendments was greatest in the Democratic-heavy counties surrounding Madison and Milwaukee. The amendments were approved as Wisconsin is again expected to be a battleground state for a likely rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in November.  “Victory! Wisconsin has spoken and the message is clear: elections belong to voters‚ not out-of-state billionaires‚” Wisconsin GOP Chairman Brian Schimming said in a statement. “Thanks to the efforts by the Republican Party of Wisconsin and grassroots organizing‚ Wisconsinites have turned the page on Zuckerbucks and secured our elections from dark money donors.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP According to the Foundation for Government Accountability‚ more than $10 million in “Zuckerbucks” was spent in Wisconsin during the 2020 election. The FGA estimated that more than 80% of the funding went to areas Biden won by an average of 37 points.  Jason Snead‚ the executive director of the Honest Elections Project‚ a group that has urged states to ban the use of outside funding for elections‚ praised the move in a statement obtained by The Daily Wire.  “Honest Elections Project Action congratulates Wisconsinites for voting to enshrine a ban on private influence on election administration in their state constitution‚” Snead said. “Private influence schemes such as ZuckBucks in 2020 and ZuckBucks 2.0 in 2024 sow distrust in election outcomes‚ which is why they should be banned in all 50 states. Moneyed interests‚ conservative and liberal alike‚ have no business influencing how elections are administered.”

Riley Gaines Goes After Massachusetts Governor After Girls Injured By Trans-Identifying Athlete

Women’s rights activist Riley Gaines laid the blame on Democratic Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey after a disturbing incident involving a trans-identifying male athlete came to light. The story‚ published by the Daily Mail‚ revealed that the athlete in question — who was filmed injuring rival female players during a February basketball game — had participated in several other sports on the women’s teams and had allegedly made lewd comments to girls while they were changing clothes in the locker room. The Kipp Academy student‚ Lazuli Clark — who towers over most female competitors at over six feet tall — has competed in the women’s divisions in basketball‚ rowing‚ volleyball‚ track &; field‚ and tae kwon do. According to Quillette‚ the student was allegedly suspended from the women’s rowing team at a private club after “leering” at another female student in the locker room‚ saying‚ “Ooh‚ t***ies.” Quillette cited a leaked copy of a letter dated October 12‚ 2022‚ and sent by 15 parents to the United States Rowing Association‚ the sport’s governing body in America. That letter stated that the student had placed “near the bottom” when competing for the club’s men’s team and had subsequently joined the women’s team — but did not bother to shave and continued to wear the men’s uniform to compete. According to Quillette‚ the locker room incident resulted in the student being “reported by team officials to the U.S. Center for SafeSport‚” after which Clark was not permitted to row for either team again. “Stop letting these pervs hide behind preferred pronouns and blurred out images. This photo was proudly posted by the school therefore it’s public domain. Name and shame them. Lazuli Clark is a man that sexually harassed women‚” Gaines responded to the initial story — and then took aim at Governor Healey for allowing it to continue. “These girls were forced to participate in his sick fetish at the hands of @MassGovernor‚” she said. These girls were forced to participate in his sick fetish at the hands of @MassGovernor If this headline shocks you‚ you haven't been paying attention https://t.co/RBn2agoTsK — Riley Gaines (@Riley_Gaines_) April 3‚ 2024 Gaines went on to ask where the parents — particularly the fathers — were in this case‚ suggesting that they should be standing up for their daughters against the organizations‚ schools‚ and states that were allowing biological males to take over women’s sports. California Triggers Bloodbath By Raising Minimum Wage To $20 An Hour

California Triggers Bloodbath By Raising Minimum Wage To $20 An Hour

For several years now‚ Democrats in the state of California have enjoyed all the perks of one-party rule. With supermajorities in the state assembly‚ they don’t have to deal with an opposition party. They certainly don’t need to provide any kind of transparency to the public. They’re completely free to enact the Democratic Party’s grand vision — just like the leaders of notorious utopias like Baltimore‚ Selma‚ Detroit‚ or Oakland. If states are the laboratories of democracy‚ then California is the laboratory of the Democratic Party. Whatever Democrats want‚ they get. That’s why hundreds of thousands of people flee California every year and it’s why a lot more are about to leave the state. California‚ without much discussion or debate‚ just raised its minimum wage for certain fast-food workers to $20 an hour. This is a 25% wage hike‚ up from $16 an hour. The law applies to chains with 60 or more locations in California‚ including franchises — many of which are family-owned. The totally foreseeable and inevitable followed‚ and a bunch of fast-food chains announced mass layoffs. Others started raising prices‚ and at least one restaurant so far has closed down completely. Watch: Those employees at Foster’s Freeze went from $16 an hour to zero dollars an hour‚ thanks to the minimum wage hike which California declared a “win for workers.” And they’re not alone. When this law was signed‚ two large Pizza Hut franchisees laid off more than 1‚200 delivery drivers. In San Jose‚ The Wall Street Journal reports that two small Vitality Bowls restaurants have cut their workforce in half. Restaurants like Jack in the Box are “testing fryer robots and automated drink dispensers” so they can fire more employees soon. Hours are being cut and of course‚ prices are going up too‚ across the board. The New York Post reported‚ at one Los Angeles-area Burger King‚ prices for a Texas Double Whopper went from $15.09 on March 29 to $16.89 on April 1‚ once the law went into effect. That’s an increase of nearly $2 for the same exact — already horrifically overpriced — food in just two days. The Big Fish meal went up by $4‚ from $7.49 to $11.49. That’s the precise increase in hourly wage‚ passed directly onto customers. Several other menu items went up “anywhere from 25 cents to a dollar‚” the Post found. From what I’ve seen‚ some of the advocates of the minimum wage hike on social media have tried to dismiss the concerns over the price hikes by saying that 25 cents to a dollar isn’t a very steep increase. But what they’re ignoring is that‚ first of all‚ as a percentage of the overall price of the item‚ these hikes are already significant. And second‚ this law has been in effect for less than two days and this is what has happened only in that time frame. We can assume that prices will continue to go up. WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show One of the many fast-food companies raising prices is the fried chicken restaurant Raising Cane’s. The CEO of the company went on CNBC recently to talk about the impact of this legislation on his business. Now‚ based on everything you’ve just read‚ you might assume that the CNBC anchor conducting the interview would have a dim view of this new legislation. After all‚ you’d expect someone at a business-oriented network to understand that higher prices and fewer jobs are generally a bad thing. But here’s how she frames her question: The CEO doesn’t really answer the question‚ probably because he’s there for a nice PR opportunity and he doesn’t get adversarial or maybe he wasn’t paying attention. But it’s an incredible question to ask in earnest‚ which she appears to be doing. If you give minimum wage workers a raise‚ but in the process make it more expensive for them to live and eat‚ you have not really given them a raise. You haven’t made it easier for them to purchase more chicken fingers. This is especially the case for the many workers who have already lost their jobs because of it‚ and the many more who will in the near future. The fact that this is apparently difficult to say out loud — even for the CEO of Raising Cane’s — tells us a lot about how California got in this position. Very few people in the state seem to understand basic principles of economics — or at least‚ they don’t want to talk about them. But the fast food workers themselves understand what’s going on here. They realize that they didn’t actually get a raise. Here’s an employee from Jack in the Box explaining a basic economic reality that the governor of her state doesn’t seem to comprehend: How does a fast-food worker understand the economics of this situation better than the CNBC anchors? Why is she raising issues that California politicians don’t seem to understand? Whatever the answer is‚ this is getting to be a running theme in California. A couple of years ago‚ California sent out millions of “inflation relief checks‚” which accomplished nothing except making inflation even worse. But there was no opposition party that could block those checks‚ just like there’s no opposition party to block this minimum wage increase. In fact‚ in California‚ the labor unions obtained nondisclosure agreements during the negotiations for the minimum wage bill. So no one can talk about how exactly this bill came about. There’s never going to be a full explanation for why Gavin Newsom’s friend and donor at Panera Bread managed to secure an exemption for fast-food restaurants that make bread‚ for example. (Not that we really need an explanation for that. It’s the kind of naked corruption that one-party states are well known for). But you don’t need an insider’s look into the legislative process to know how poorly conceived this law is. That’s because‚ after the bill was passed‚ legislators went back and added a bunch of other exemptions‚ including fast-food locations in airports and stadiums. That’s how you know you’re dealing with a very well-thought-out law — the legislators just go back and redo it a few weeks later. These are the people manipulating the economy in the most populated state in the country. They’re doing it as haphazardly as you’d expect. The truth is that raising the minimum wage (by 25%‚ which is obviously a very sizable hike) in the midst of inflation and a struggling economy is incredibly stupid. There’s really no other word for it. It attempts an end-run around the actual problems facing Californians. Except‚ really‚ it’s worse than that. They aren’t just avoiding the problems‚ but actively making everything worse. They’re trying to solve problems by creating more of the problems they’re allegedly trying to solve. And they aren’t done. In fact‚ some leaders in California think that $20 an hour is still too low. It’s not even half of what they think the minimum should be. Here’s Rep. Barbara Lee: Just do the math. Do the math‚ says the woman who apparently can’t add two plus two. She wants to mandate six-figure incomes for the people who run the cash register at McDonald’s. You notice that she was asked about the economic sustainability of such a plan and did not pretend to even address that concern. That’s because it is‚ of course‚ not sustainable at all. $20 an hour isn’t even sustainable. $20 an hour has already caused a bloodbath of layoffs and price hikes. $50 an hour would simply be the end of commerce in California‚ which means the end of California itself. So‚ on second thought‚ maybe her plan has some benefits. But you notice what Lee said in that clip. She said that a family of four needs a six-figure income just to get by. That’s not really true — you can get by on less‚ my family did at one time — but think about how that applies here. She’s saying that minimum wage workers need a massive‚ mandatory raise because that’s what’s necessary for families of four to survive. This obviously implies that there are a lot of single-income households of four where the breadwinner makes minimum wage. But that’s not generally the case‚ and this is really‚ perhaps‚ the most important point here. Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be careers. These are supposed to be jobs for teenagers working part-time while they finish high school. These aren’t jobs that grown adults with kids and mortgages are supposed to be doing for years on end. So if you’ve been working at a job for five or ten years and you still make minimum wage‚ there’s obviously a serious problem — and it’s not one a minimum wage hike can solve. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP Personally‚ I want every minimum wage worker to get a hefty raise. But that can be achieved‚ and should be achieved‚ by earning a raise. It can also be achieved by getting some work experience under your belt and then finding a better job somewhere else. Minimum wage is supposed to be a stepping stone. Not a foundation to build your life on. It’s a bit like if lawmakers passed a law declaring that all tent manufacturers must make their tents big enough and sturdy enough that they can be lived in for six months at a time. But that’s not what tents are supposed to be used for. That’s not what a tent is. A tent is something you stay in for a few days at a time. Now‚ lawmakers in California might respond‚ “No that’s not true. In our state lots of people live in tents for years. They set them up right on the sidewalk!” Yes‚ but the problem there is not that the tents are insufficient homes. The problem is that those people are trying to turn tents into homes. The problem is with how the tent is being used. Minimum wage is like the tent of salaries. It’s meant to be very temporary. The advantage of working a minimum wage job is that the bar is pretty low. Show up on time‚ look presentable‚ put in the effort‚ be reliable‚ be moderately competent‚ cover all the basics‚ and you’ll be on the fast track to a better job — either at your current place of work or somewhere else. You don’t need to wait around for the government to force your employer to give you a raise. As I’ve said plenty of times before‚ the best way for a minimum wage worker to make more money is to not be a minimum wage worker anymore. That’s a basic truth that you won’t hear from politicians like Barbara Lee. Instead they’ll promise you the pie in the sky. The bad news is that they probably won’t deliver on that promise. The worse news is that they might. And then everyone’s problems will get much worse.

‘Gross’: Lawmakers Slam Biden Administration Over Convictions Of Pro-Life Activists

Republican lawmakers slammed the Biden administration on Wednesday over a “weaponized” Justice Department after four more Christian pro-lifers face prison time after they were convicted of FACE-Act related charges on Tuesday. The four‚ Eva Edl‚ Eva Zastrow‚ James Zastrow‚ and Paul Place‚ face up to six months in prison and a $10‚000 fine after they were found guilty of violating the FACE Act by Middle District of Tennessee Magistrate Judge Chip Frensly. Critics say that the FACE Act‚ a Clinton-era law that criminalizes the use of force or threats of force that prevent someone from accessing an abortion facility‚ has been used to target pro-lifers. In the aftermath of the convictions‚ some lawmakers again renewed calls for repeal of the FACE Act‚ saying that it had been weaponized. “Biden’s DOJ is weaponized against pro-life demonstrators‚” Rep Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said‚ commenting on the Tuesday trial. “This is not acceptable. Congress must repeal the FACE Act.” Biden's DOJ is weaponized against pro-life demonstrators. This is not acceptable. Congress must repeal the FACE Act.https://t.co/AOhLu4Tyb4 — Rep Andy Biggs (@RepAndyBiggsAZ) April 3‚ 2024   “I am a proud cosponsor of [Rep. Chip Roy’]s FACE Act Repeal Act of 2023‚” Biggs added. “Let’s get it done.” Roy introduced a bill in the House last year that would repeal the FACE Act and a companion bill was put forth in the Senate by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT). Roy again urged Congress to take up his measure on Wednesday‚ saying that Congress should pass it “immediately.” Edl‚ Place‚ and the Zastrows (brother and sister) were charged by the DOJ after they participated in a sit-in at the Carafem abortion facility in Mt Juliet‚ Tennessee‚ on March 5‚ 2021. On that day‚ a group of demonstrators gathered on the second floor of an office building in the hallway outside Carafem. The group prayed‚ sang hymns‚ and urged women showing up to the clinic to not get abortions. Photos were displayed at the trial showing the four sitting in front of the door to Carafem‚ but the defendants’ lawyers argued that the DOJ never proved they had actually blocked anyone from entering or actually inhibited the activities of the staff of the facility. Barry Moore (R-AL) blasted the Biden administration for its targeting of pro-life activists. “More than 5‚000 illegals enter our country every day and the Biden Administration has no idea where they are‚” he posted on X. “If you’re a pro-life activist‚ Biden’s DOJ definitely knows where you are.” More than 5‚000 illegals enter our country every day and the Biden Administration has no idea where they are. Mary Miller (R-IL) also slammed Biden over the prosecution of the pro-lifers. “Biden’s DOJ is prosecuting Christians for peacefully praying outside abortion clinics‚ which is their First Amendment right‚” she wrote. “Meanwhile‚ 10 million illegal aliens walked into our country‚ including known terrorist ‘gotaways’ &; Biden’s DOJ has no idea where they are. AMERICA LAST!” Biden's DOJ is prosecuting Christians for peacefully praying outside abortion clinics‚ which is their First Amendment right. Mary Miller (@RepMaryMiller) April 3‚ 2024 Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO)‚ a member of the House Oversight Committee‚ called the whole thing “gross.” “Instead of securing the border and protecting Americans‚ Joe Biden is going after Pro-Lifers – gross‚” Burlison said. Eric Burlison (@RepEricBurlison) April 3‚ 2024 In January‚ six other pro-lifers who were at Carafem in March 2021 were convicted of similar charges and could be sentenced to over 10 years in prison and leveled hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of fines.
