Iraqi blogger burns her Swedish passport - vows never to return

FOREIGN. A blogger in Iraq has filmed herself burning her Swedish passport in protest against the Koran burnings, Middle East Eye reports.

In the clip, the woman describes her outrage that Sweden allowed the Iraqi Salwan Momika to burn the Koran.

At the same time, she holds up what is said to be her Swedish passport.

- Today I will burn your passport, and I will never visit your country again, she says.


Then she takes out a lighter and sucks on the document.

- May Allah bring justice to those who allow this discrimination, says the blogger and promises again to never visit Sweden again.

On Twitter, a large number of international comments express joy that the woman is burning her Swedish passport and express the hope that she will keep her promise not to return to the Scandinavian country. However, several note that she will probably get a new Swedish passport again in the future.

"Surprising benefits arise as a result of Koran burnings in Sweden," writes a user whose post received close to 3,000 "like" marks.
