This “AGT” Golden Buzzer Audition Will Give You Chills
Summertime means America’s Got Talent and fans lock in each year to have their minds blown. Charity Lockhart is a 49-year-old mom of two who wanted nothing more than to sing. But life wasn’t easy for Charity who at one point lived with her two sons in their car. But Charity had hope.
“All I had was my voice. So I went to clubs and bars, and I asked live bands if I could sing with them,” she told the judges before she sang. “They would give me a little money at the end of the night, so I entered vocal competitions. Not this big. It was a local competition, and we won a monetary award. And that gave us our first apartment.”
Charity Lockhart Didn’t Have The Best Performance At First
Charity Lockhart began her set with an a cappella version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz. Simon quickly stopped her, but wanted to give her another chance.
“I stopped you because I like you. But it just wasn’t working for me. Have you got another song? Anything? I really want this to work for you, and this is a lot of pressure,” Simon said. “But come on, you’ve got it in you. Let’s hear the other song.”
After a deep breath, Charity sang a rendition of Golden Slumbers by the Beatles. The performance hit all the right notes and got the audience directly in their feels.
“This is what a great audition is all about, you know, when they’re going to talk about you the following day,” Simon said. “That was one of those auditions. It was that good.”
It not only brought judge Mel B. to her feet, but she slammed the Golden Buzzer, catapulting Charity Lockart to the Live Shows. Mel B. rushed the stage, hugged Charity, and overwhelmed her, calling her “incredible.”
This season is one to watch.
