NBC Had No Idea Who Warren Zeiders Was During His Performance At US Army 250th Birthday Parade: “Wallen Zeiders? Time For The Google”

Eh, you’re not missing much. President Donald Trump hosted a military parade yesterday in Washington DC in celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States Army, which featured performances from Lee Greenwood and promised appearances from “surprise guests.” But apparently nobody told NBC who the surprise guest was…which turned out to be country music singer Warren Zeiders. Trump recently complimented Zeiders in a post on Truth Social, calling his music “fantastic” and encouraging people to go to his concerts: .@WarrenZeiders is FANTASTIC! pic.twitter.com/TByLsiPerY — Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) April 28, 2025 At the time I was afraid that his account had been hacked, but apparently Trump is actually a Warren Zeiders fan because just a few weeks ago he hosted the Pennsylvania native in the White House: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Warren D. Zeiders (@warrenzeiders) Well Zeiders appeared during the celebration yesterday to perform his single “Ride the Lightning,” but it seemed to confuse NBC News anchors Aaron Gilchrist and Kelly O’Donnell, who had no idea who Zeiders was as he appeared on the screen. The anchors were broadcasting from the studio, and when the camera cut to a shot of lightning they first thought it was a view of the weather in DC. But as the camera zoomed out to show that the lightning was only on the video screen, with Zeiders singing on stage, they got even more confused: “I don’t know who this is singing right now. And I probably should.” O’Donnell added that they were told there would be a surprise, but weren’t told who the surprise was: “We were told there would be a surprise. I was also hoping we would be told who the surprise is, but this is I’m sure an important booking. Friends in the control room…” Gilchrist then appealed for help while trying to stall as they figured out who was performing: “If anyone in our control room has an idea, we’d love to hear it, just for folks that are watching.” But even after they were informed of the singer’s name, there was still some confusion: “Warren Zeiders? Wallen Zeiders? I think it was Wallen.” “Time for the Google. Country music fans are very frustrated with us right now that we don’t know that.” They were also able to eventually piece together that he was singing “Ride the Lightning” and make sense of the lightning on the screen: “Ride the lightning is what he’s singing, so that’s a poetic moment, because that’s why we’re seeing it on the screen… That makes it all make sense now, that ‘Ride the Lightning’ is one of his hits.” The whole thing was pretty funny, especially given that Warren seems to have a pretty outsized ego for the size of a star that he really is. We saw that ego on full display not long ago when he had a full-blown meltdown onstage after a fan reportedly flipped him off: “You wanna flip me off again a**hole I’ll get you kicked out of the f***ing show. F*** me? F*** you, dude. I’m sorry your wife likes my f***ing show and you don’t.” @ms.hope147 #warrenzeiders #country #countrymusic #concerts #fy #fypage #fyp #fypシ゚viral ♬ original sound – Lisa Hope Later in the show he said: “Yeah, suck my c**k motherf**ker. Come to my show and you’re gonna flip me off, get the f*** out p**sy.” @kayleo Don’t mess with WARREN!
