Megan Moroney’s Producer, Kristian Bush, Shares He’s In Nashville Finishing Her Third Record: “It’s Really Good, Holy Smokes”

MM3 is being finished as we speak. Megan Moroney is working on her third studio record, and fans are on edge. Moroney shared a preview of her most recent release, “6 Months Later.”  The summer jam signifies the start of her next chapter of music after her sophomore record, Am I Okay?, and just like many other Megan Moroney hits, “6 Months Later” highlights all-too-relatable lyrics that find her detailing how a relationship went sideways. But the man she’s singing about always tries to find a way back into her life… “With a ‘Hey Meg, I think I want you back I’m a couple drinks in thinkin’ it’s my bad That I let you walk away and let you go It’s the tale as old as time, I guess When you couldn’t care more, I couldn’t care less You’re a little too late to the party, heartbreaker What doesn’t kill you calls you six months later” That last night line is too real. While there have been no official announcements about when fans can expect MM3, this new single makes fans believe it’s coming soon. Based on some information Megan Moroney’s producer shared, that theory appears to be spot on. During a recent show at Eddie’s Attic, Kristian Bush, shared that he was flying to Nashville shortly after he left the stage to fly to Nashville to finish MM3 with the Emo Cowgirl. “On another note, we’ve been making these Megan Moroney records. They’re doing really well. No small feat there. We are going to be, first thing tomorrow morning, we’re going up to Nashville and finish the third one.  And it’s really good. Holy smokes.” @whiskeyriff “It’s really good. Holy smokes.” // whiskeyriff.com #whiskeyriff #meganmoroney #countrymusic #mm3 ♬ original sound – Whiskey Riff Oh heck yes. I hope this means an album announcement is in the near future. As for what else we know about MM3, fans can expect Moroney to share songs that reflect stories or feelings she’s experienced. “I just try to live my life and write about it. So that’s kind of how this next album is shaping up, too. Just like the last ones — I was writing about my life experiences. So the strategy behind it hasn’t changed. It’s still the same.” Moroney also shared with People Magazine on the AMA red carpet that the overall tone of MM3 will be more “light and carefree and happy.” However, Megan Moroney isn’t straying from her sad girl anthems, revealing that the fan favorite unreleased song “Wedding Dress” will be on the tracklist, which she says is the saddest song on the album. “The saddest, uh, is a song called ‘Wedding Dress,’ that I’ve teased on TikTok. Yep, that one is making the album. I don’t know…that’s the first time I’m saying that out loud. I didn’t get approval to do that, but it’s literally fine.  But yeah, it’s a song called ‘Wedding Dress,’ and the whole premise of the song is like I’m okay with missing him now, but just like please don’t let me miss him in a wedding dress. That’s about as sad as it gets, but I will say, on average, assuming that I don’t write a bunch of sad songs in the next however many months that I have some time to do it, it’s a lot happier this next album.” Moroney also teased another sad tune called “Beautiful Things,” inspired by the girlhood experiences her niece would go through one day. Moroney penned this tune knowing that she might feel left out at times growing up, and this song almost acts as a therapy piece, encouraging her to move on and know that lasting friends won’t make you feel that way. “I wrote this song with my niece in mind. When she was born I remember being in awe of how sweet and perfect she was & I (in true emo cowgirl fashion) was sad knowing that when she grows up the world may be cruel to her sometimes… inevitably she’ll get her feelings hurt by friends or her heart broken or just have bad days & I wanted her to be able to have a song to listen to when & if she ever needs it.” I hope that “Beautiful Things” makes the MM3 tracklist, too. Given what Moroney has teased and released, MM3 appears to be a special record. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for fans.
