Storm chaser Aaron JayJack has seen his fair share of tornadoes over the years. But he’s never seen one quite like this before! Last month, a twister began to form in an area that Aaron says was “in the middle of nowhere.” It did so slowly enough that he was easily able to maintain a close yet safe distance. This allowed Aaron to do something incredible: He captured the full lifecycle of a tornado and made it into a time-lapse! This “erratic moving tornado,” as Aaron calls it, had a lifecycle of 77 minutes. With the use of his editing skills, he was able to create a time-lapse video that lasts only a minute. It perfectly captures the bone-chilling beauty of a tornado. But very rarely do they move westward. And that’s what I found this tornado doing, actually chasing me down the road to the west for a while,” Aaron says. “Fortunately, it was an extremely slow-moving tornado; I could’ve kept out of its way even just on foot.” Because this tornado was in such an isolated area, Aaron says that little damage was done. Reportedly, only a few trees and power poles were hit. Aaron, and the few others who were there, made it out totally unscathed. “There’s nothing I crave more than to stand toe to toe with a tornado, open road in front of me, not another human in sight,” Aaron explains. “I accomplished that with this tornado; a rare feat these days with so many chasers out on the roads.” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here!
