Finally returning fire? Zach Bryan has been mostly silent on his messy breakup with Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry (whose real name is Brianna LaPaglia). Brianna, on the other hand, has been anything but silent. The two dated for about a year, but last fall announced that they had gone their separate ways. And Brianna followed up with a bombshell tell-all podcast, revealing that Zach had offered her $12 million to sign a non-disclosure agreement (which she turned down), and detailing a pattern of emotional abuse from the country star during their time together. She’s continued to take shots at him, and revealed some wild details about their time together, all of which paint Zach in a not-so-flattering light. But for his part, Zach has remained fairly silent on the whole thing. Until now, apparently. Zach dropped three new songs last week, including “Streets Of London,” “River Washed Hair,” and “A Song For You.” And of course fans immediately began speculating about the meaning behind all of the songs, and who he was talking about. In “River Washed Hair,” Zach sings about a girl named Anna that had some believing that it was about Brianna Chickenfry. (Anna, Brianna, get it?) “Remember when we’d sit around an ol’ fire And you’d get your guitar out to sing We’d sing CCR, “Jersey Giant,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger” Or anything by Bruce Springsteen Back when ol’ Anna would throw her ol’ hands up With her face framed by the fire … And I think I might pack a bag in the night Find me some small town out west Start over, find closure and just say “I’m sorry” To that sweet girl who tore off that dress” Well someone posted a TikTok with the line about the “sweet girl,” captioning it “did someone check on Bri,” implying that the song was about Brianna. @taydepadua I’m so conflicted #zachbryan ♬ River Washed Hair – Zach Bryan But Zach commented on the video and quickly shot that narrative down: “lmfao I said ‘sweet’ this is not about whatever she has going on hahahahahaah” Ouch… I guess that settles it though, at least as far as whether the song is about Brianna or not (for the record, it seems pretty clear that it’s not). The response from Zach comes after Brianna recently used Morgan Wallen’s new album to take a shot at her ex-boyfriend, following her claim that Zach once got mad at her for singing one of Morgan’s song in his house. Back when Brianna was first started dishing on her tumultuous relationship with Zach via her BFF’s podcast, she recalled an alleged fight they had over country music’s other mega star, who was coming off the highest-selling country tour of all-time last year with his One Night At A Time World Tour, and scored #1 hits all year long on both country and Top 40 charts. According to Brianna, Zach reportedly got upset that she had Morgan’s smash hit “Last Night” stuck in her head one morning after scrolling past the song in a TikTok video. She alleges that she walked up the stairs at their NYC apartment one morning singing a line from it, and it turned into “a fight for a week.” Bri recalled Zach telling her that he couldn’t believe she would be “singing another man’s song under my roof, in this house, that I own,” saying he “freaked the f*** out” over it: “One morning, we were out the night before, and one morning I woke up and I was scrolling TikTok, and ‘Last night, we let the liquor talk,’ was stuck in my head. And I walk up the stairs in the New York apartment, and I’m singing, I’m about to make breakfast or something like that… he freaked the f*** out.  Like, freaked the f*** out. He could not believe, ‘You’re singing another man’s song under my roof, in this house, that I own.’ It was a fight for, I think, a week. It’s a Morgan Wallen song. I don’t know…” Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy, who used to co-host the podcast, was a little confused about why Zach was bothered about that song in particular, wondering if there was specific beef between the two country stars he didn’t know about, but I think the other co-host Josh Richards had his own theory: “I think he really doesn’t like Morgan Wallen. I think he hates Morgan Wallen. I think he feels inferior to Morgan Wallen.” Bri then also told the guys that she “wasn’t really allowed” to listen to wildly popular folk pop singer Noah Kahan either, who Zach previously called “a friend” after he missed one of the shows at Fenway Park that Noah headlined, where he supposedly going to be the “surprise guest”: “I also, I was not really allowed to listen to Noah Kahan. I listened to him too much.” And after Morgan released his new album I’m The Problem back in May, Brianna didn’t miss the chance to take another thinly-veiled shot at her ex by posting a video on TikTok with Morgan’s song “I Got Better” in the background just days after Zach shared the song himself: @ihatebriannachickenfry♬ I Got Better – Morgan Wallen What a mess.
