For, like, the hundredth time… Two Democrat council members in Michigan have just been charged with election fraud for forging mail-in ballots during a local 2023 election. They are now being charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors for forging ballots. Detroit Free Press reported: Councilmen Mohammed Kamrul Hassan, 57, and Muhtasin Rahman Sadman, 26, each face several felony and misdemeanor charges for alleged criminal activity from July 7, 2023, to Nov. 7, 2023, a time period that includes both the August primary and November general elections in Hamtramck, in which Hassan and Sadman were running. The charges don’t specify which of the two elections the alleged fraud involves. The charges were filed Friday, Aug. 8, in 31st District Court in Hamtramck by Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Yorkey, who was assigned to the case after Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel recused herself over perceptions of bias against Muslims. Yorkey said Monday, Aug. 11, in a statement to the Free Press that the charges came after “an exhaustive review of law enforcements findings.” Yorkey said that “Sadman forged an absentee ballot application with the intent to defraud and aided or counseled two unqualified electors to vote in the 2023 election” and that Hassan “forged an absentee ballot application with the intent to defraud in the 2023 election for City Council.” It’s unclear who the two voters involved in Sadman’s case are. Four other council members have also been implicated in the conspiracy. These charges are part of a larger investigation that has been going on since April. CBS News has more: In April, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office began an investigation into four current council members and a former council member for a “conspiracy to unlawfully obtain access to absentee ballots with the intent to illegally vote the ballots.” State prosecutors say that six people allegedly worked together during the 2023 election to receive blank absentee ballots that had been signed by naturalized citizens. Those six people would allegedly then fill in the candidates they wanted. Nessel’s office requested a special prosecutor to investigate the allegations. On Monday, Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffery Yorkey, who was named the special prosecutor, charged city councilmember Mohammed Hassan, 57, with election law forgery, two counts of unqualified elector attempting to vote, forging a signature on an absentee ballot application and providing a false statement in an application for an absentee ballot.
