Jerry Mathers Asks Fans To Help Another Classic TV Star And Wife Win America’s Favorite Couple
Jerry Mathers played Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver on Leave It To Beaver from 1967 to 1963. The family became the gold standard of American wholesome life, and everyone wanted to be just like the Cleavers. It turns out Jerry is just as good a guy in real life as he was on TV. He recently posted on Facebook asking for a bit of help for his good buddy, Jon Provost, another famous childhood actor.
“Hi Friends, Two of my closest friends — Jon Provost (Timmy on Lassie) and his wife Laurie Jacobson, are in the running for “America’s Favorite Couple.” The prize is $20,000, which they want to use to help shelter pets and war dogs. They are such a great couple; and the shelters are so over-crowded now and need help,” Jerry shared.
Jerry Mathers Used Some Classic Beaver Lingo To Help Increase Votes
Jerry Mathers will always identify with Beaver, so he tapped into the 1950s speak to help drum up more votes for Jon and Laurie.
“We really want to see them win. That’s where you come in. If you click on their picture below, you can cast one vote for free every day for a week — no purchase necessary. If they take first in their group, they move on to the semi-finals. Gee guys, it would be swell if you could help them out,” he wrote.
“Wow thank you all for all the great memories,” a fan shared.
“Just voted. So everyone knows it’s free. It may ask for a donation which is great to give but you don’t have to. Let’s get as many votes for them that we can,” a follower clarified.
“My vote is in, Jerry Mathers. Thank you for spreading good will,” another fan shared.
His plea seems to have helped. Jon and Laurie are currently number one in Variety’s America’s Favorite Couple Contest. You can vote for them here.
