Country Music Fans Are Just Now Realizing Jamey Johnson Made A Cameo In Classic Miranda Lambert Music Video

The cameo was right there – front and center – and some folks missed out on it for all these years. Everyone loves a good cameo, right? A movie, TV show, or music video can be quickly elevated by the presence of someone or something that was unexpected. Those high-profile drop ins often lead to memorable moments, though sometimes, sneaky cameos are discovered years later. Some country music fans are just now finding out that Jamey Johnson was prominently featured in Miranda Lambert’s iconic “White Liar” music video. If you’ve seen the video before and didn’t realize it, you’ll probably kick yourself when you watch it back again. Though in defense of those who didn’t notice… it makes sense that Jamey’s cameo was overlooked considering the timeline of the video and Lambert and Johnson’s respective careers. Jamey Johnson got his big break as an artist in 2008, when he released his second album That Lonesome Song, which featured “In Color” in the track list. This Miranda Lambert song was released in August of 2009, which means that Johnson probably skated by unnoticed (for the most part) probably because his rise in the country music industry was just beginning. Now armed with hindsight, it’s hard to believe that Johnson played a somewhat critical role in Lambert’s “White Liar” music video. You can hear that realization happening in real time in the video below, which features someone discovering that Johnson played the officiant of the wedding in the music video (and also being shocked that a song released in 2009 is now considered “classic”): “I don’t know what I’m more mad about: that I didn’t know that Jamey Johnson was the preacher in this video, or that this video is now considered classic country.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Whiskey Riff (@whiskeyriff) Pretty cruel that the wheel of time keeps on turning with reckless abandon, am I right? Does anyone else feel like 2010 was just five or six years ago? No, just me? What makes it even harder to believe that Jamey Johnson went seemingly unnoticed in his cameo was the fact that “White Liar” was a rather big hit for Miranda Lambert. It peaked at number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and the music video – which is set at a fictitious wedding where Lambert is the bride – won Music Video of the Year at the ACM Awards and Female Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. I also have to point out that we all should have caught Johnson’s cameo earlier… solely because he’s sporting his long hair and sprawling beard as he plays the officiant/pastor at the wedding. Guys with long hair and a big ol’ beard are generally hard to miss, and it’s not like Jamey Johnson was hiding. He’s framed right-smack-dab in the middle of many shots, and even has a few close ups. Looking back now, it’s hard to see how we all missed the country music star cameo within the Miranda Lambert music video. Guess you could say he was hidden in plain sight: “White Liar” By the way, I’ll admit that it is pretty scary that a music video released in 2009 is considered to be “Classic Country.” There’s no way that we’re all that old, right? The post Country Music Fans Are Just Now Realizing Jamey Johnson Made A Cameo In Classic Miranda Lambert Music Video first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
