JD Vance Responds to “Completely Fake” WSJ Report On Elon Musk Backing 2028 Campaign
On Tuesday, the disgraced Wall Street Journal published a report about Elon Musk re-thinking launching a third political party.
According to the report, Elon Musk was considering backing JD Vance in the 2028 election instead.
However, it turns out that was all just fake news.
In an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, Vice President JD Vance called the report “completely fake.”
He set the record straight, saying that he has never talked with Elon Musk about the next presidential election.
Vance then went on to deliver a message to Elon Musk, urging him to come back to MAGA and join forces to try to “fix the GOP” rather than breaking off.

BREAKING: JD Vance pleads with Elon Musk to come back into MAGA and NOT start a 3rd party.
“If he doesn’t like things the Republican Party is doing – my advice to @ElonMusk would be, try to fix the GOP. Try to push it in your own way. Disagree with me, the president – don’t pretend you can make a big difference with a 3rd party.”
“If he has disagreements, express those disagreements from the INSIDE, not the outside.”
I 100% agree with @JDVance.
JD Vance is absolutely right, of course.
Elon Musk could make a much bigger difference working from inside the Republican party than by breaking off with a third party.
United, we are stronger.
Fox News has more:
Vice President JD Vance cautioned Elon Musk against forming a third political party in an exclusive interview on “The Ingraham Angle,” saying the billionaire could wield more influence by staying “loyal” to the Republican Party and President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement.
“My advice to Elon would be to try to fix the Republican Party. Try to push it in your own way. Disagree with me all you want, disagree with the president of the United States, but don’t pretend that you can make a big difference with a third party,” Vance said Wednesday.
“I think Elon would make a much bigger difference if he stayed loyal to President Trump’s Republican Party, and if he had disagreements, express those disagreements from the inside as opposed from the outside.”
The former Ohio senator’s comments came after The Wall Street Journal reported Musk is pausing plans to start the America Party to focus on his companies.
Earlier today, Elon Musk also shut down the fake WSJ report in a reply on X:
Nothing @WSJ says should ever be thought of as true
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 20, 2025
However, over a month later, it doesn’t appear that Musk has made any concrete steps towards actually launching his new “America Party.”
Hopefully, he will listen to what JD Vance had to say and return to his senses by midterms.
That would be the best path forward, but we will see what happens.
