Now this is a cover I NEED. These days, Post Malone is a country star after releasing his debut country album last year, which was very well-received by country fans and fans of other genres alike. He’s also done some pop stuff, and obviously made a name on his rap and hip hop music, and we’ve heard him do some incredible covers of rock stuff too, particularly Nirvana… his tribute set during COVID lives rent free in my head. But he just shared a bit of a cover of The Eagles hit “Take It Easy” on TikTok, and I can’t believe he’s never done more of songs like this… it fits his style so perfectly, with just the right amount of country and rock, and I feel like his voice was made for this style of music. Of course, “Take It Easy” was the debut single from the Eagles, written by Jackson Browne and Eagles band member Glenn Frey, who also provides lead vocals. It was released in May of 1972, and peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart just a few months later in July. It was also the opening track of the band’s eponymous debut album and has become one of their signature songs that many of us know well and love a lot. But there’s just something about this… it looks like a backstage impromptu singalong, but now I NEED to hear him do it solo and for real on a stage or in a studio. In fact, many fans in the comments seemed to agree with me, and I wholeheartedly agree with everyone that this is what we’ve been needing from Posty: “Omg Post Malone covering The Eagles!
