Illinois Governor JB Pritzker Signs New Law FORCING All Universities And Colleges To Provide Abortion Pills

Here’s another radical law created by a Democrat. Democrat Governor of Illinois JB Pritzker has signed a new law that will force all public colleges and universities in Illinois to provide abortion pills to their students. The new law will force the pharmacies at Illinois universities and colleges to give students the option to obtain abortion pills. The Daily Caller had more details to share on the controversial move by Pritzker: Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat, signed legislation into law on Friday requiring all public colleges and universities in the state to dispense abortion pills to students. The bill amended the state’s Public Higher Education Act to include a requirement for all institutions of higher education in the state that offer student health services to employ a medical professional capable of prescribing abortion pills and to provide the pills on campus if the school has a pharmacy beginning in the current 2025-2026 academic year. The institutions must also openly display abortion options on the school’s healthcare website and must refer students to outside abortion providers if the institution is incapable of providing the service. The legislation also amended the definition of emergency contraception to remove the necessity of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval and recommended 72-hour timeframe. “Six years ago, I made a promise to the women of this state: As governor, I will ensure that your medical decisions will be your own,” Pritzker said in a statement. “I’m proud to be taking these steps, but I will not rest on this. Because we know that anti-choice extremists won’t. We will continue to activate and protest and march and deliver until every woman in this state gets the health care she deserves.” Pritzker signed an additional bill at the same time expanding protections and removing accountability for healthcare providers who provide services such as abortions to residents of states in which the act is illegal. The bill also states that any drug that loses its FDA approval following Jan. 1, 2025, will not be considered adulterated or misbranded if the World Health Organization still recommends the drug’s use. Here’s the moment Pritzker made the announcement: I made a promise to the women of Illinois — as governor, I will ensure your medical decisions will be your own. Now, we continue fulfilling that promise. Public colleges will now provide contraception and medication abortion at on-campus pharmacies and student health centers. pic.twitter.com/aSa9cS723L — Governor JB Pritzker (@GovPritzker) August 23, 2025 Pritzker at the beginning of the month didn’t rule out potentially running for President in 2028, per Fox 32: Gov. JB Pritzker did not rule out a run for president when asked on Sunday about his plans for the 2028 election. Pritzker appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning to discuss the ongoing standoff over a Trump-backed redistricting plan. Democratic lawmakers have fled to blue states like Illinois in an attempt to prevent Republicans from redrawing congressional maps to squeeze out more GOP wins in the 2026 midterm elections. Toward the end of the interview, Pritzker referenced running for a third term in 2026, which he announced earlier this year. Host Kristen Welker asked if he “ruled out a run for president in 2028.” “I’m focused on running for reelection as governor of the State of Illinois and everything that I do really is focused on lifting up the people of my state,” Pritzker said. Welker followed up with, “But you don’t rule it out, governor? Yes or no?” Pritzker responded, “I can’t rule anything out, but what I can rule in is that no matter what decisions I make, and I mean in particular about what I do here in the State of Illinois, is about the people of Illinois. Indeed, any future decisions of mine will always be guided by that.”
