“Today” Announces Major Update On Sheinelle Jones

Today’s Sheinelle Jones will return to Studio 1A on September 5th after nearly 9 months away. On September 2nd, Savannah Guthrie announced that Sheinelle was returning to work, adding that “She and her family have been through so much after the devastating loss of her husband.” “We recently sat down together,” Savannah continued. “We shared a really personal conversation, talking about how she has carried on and found the strength these past few months. She calls this experience a ‘beautiful nightmare.’ And she has thoughts on grief that are so touching. She’s got a special message of hope, too, for anyone facing their own struggles. And we will share that with you. And we cannot wait to welcome Sheinelle home, right where she belongs, right here in our studio, Studio 1A, on Friday.” Sheinelle Jones Stepped Away From “Today” In December 2024 The beloved correspondent took an extended leave in December 2024 to care for her husband, Uche Ojeh, who was battling with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma. Uche passed in May 2025. And Sheinelle took time to grieve her heartbreaking loss with their son Kayin, 15, and twins Uche and Clara, 12.
