Eagles Star Ejected Within The First 6 Seconds Into Game Over Disgusting Move
This was a classless move.
During the Eagles’ season opener, defensive linemen Jalen Carter was kicked out of the game within the first six seconds.
Carter was kicked out of the game after spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
The New York Post reported details on the incident:
Jalen Carter’s first game of the Eagles’ new season was over before the first defensive snap.
With Philadelphia trainers addressing an injury after the opening kickoff, Carter, the star defensive lineman, walked up to Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and proceeded to spit on his chest.
Carter received an unsportsmanlike penalty and was ejected just six seconds into the game, with Eagles chief security officer Dom “Big Dom” DiSandro escorting him off the field as the NBC broadcast reacted in shock at how the first game of the NFL season began.
“Whoa, whoa,” NBC play-by-broadcaster Mike Tirico said, before later adding, “First of all, I got no idea what he’s thinking, and second, this is massive in terms of the game.”
“He’s the best player they have on their defense and about 80 percent of what we were gonna talk about on this broadcast,” NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth said. “Because to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, you have to double-team Jalen Carter. If you don’t, you don’t get your offense started. Now you take off that one player on the defense that you had to focus your attention on, and it’s almost like Micah Parsons now gone from the Cowboys — same impact now with Jalen Carter gone.”
Referee Shawn Smith told a pool reporter that an official observed Carter spitting on Prescott, describing it as a “disqualifiable foul” because it’s a “non-football act.”

However, there’s more to the story.
It appeared Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was the first to spit but didn’t get caught by the referees.

NBC Sports reported more details on Prescott’s actions:
Thursday night’s game between the Cowboys and Eagles took a wild turn before the first snap when Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Carter’s loogie was launched in front of an official, which made the ejection an easy call, and video showed that it appeared to be in response to Prescott spitting in his direction as the teams began huddling up after the opening kickoff. Prescott could be seen spitting in the direction of the Eagles and said in his postgame press conference that he spits “a thousand times throughout the game.”
Prescott said he “wasn’t going to spit on my lineman and I just spit ahead,” which led to Carter asking if Prescott was trying to spit on him. Prescott, who called that “insulting” because “I wouldn’t spit on somebody,” could be seen on video responding to Carter while moving toward him before Carter’s own spit flew.
“I actually said words like, ‘Why the hell would I’ — excuse me, but probably even more colorful — ‘what would I need to spit on you for?’ He just spit on me in that moment, it was more of a surprise than anything,” Prescott said, via a transcript from the Eagles.
Prescott said he’s “pretty sure [Carter] knows that I didn’t try to spit on him or wasn’t even aiming to spit on him” and that he doesn’t “wish for anybody” to be ejected even though it was a positive for the Cowboys on the drive and throughout the game.
