Garbage Man Brings His Biggest Fans A Farewell Present Before Town Switches To Automated System
While many think picking up people’s trash is an undesirable job, there are plenty of sanitation workers who love the perks. Sure, it does come with its fair share of trash, but these people enjoy an incredible fan base. Delvar always had a smile for 3-year-old Brooklyn, who gave him one of her birthday cupcakes to seal the bond. Another 3-year-old, Wolfgang, always waited for sanitation workers, DJ and Drew. During pandemic restrictions in Canada, his mom limited his birthday party to two friends, and the toddler chose DJ and Drew.
Tony, a garbage man who was befriended by a set of triplets, said, “I picked up joy, I picked up happiness, I picked up memories.”
But with his county’s upcoming move to automated trucks, one garbage man may soon find himself without a job. He wanted to say goodbye to two special people on his route before that happened.
@jordietoks Our county is changing to automatic trash bins next month. My kids are going to miss these guys twice a week ♬ original sound – Jordietoks
Jordie’s two children offer their favorite garbage man cold drinks. He also had special gifts for them. Her daughter got a gift bag while her son got a toy truck. In addition to those gifts, he had another surprise. A bright yellow, reflective sanitation vest exactly like his, but kid-sized.
The two children will miss seeing the workers every week. They will remember the fondness they carried in their hearts. Every city or town has at least one garbage man, and they touch our lives in more ways than we can count without realizing their worth. Some kids enjoy the trucks and how they appear to “eat” our trash. However, for most kids, it is that friendly smile and wave as these humans pass through our lives.
Please share if you remember your childhood garbage man.
