Elderly Man Singing “How Long Will I Love You” Is Pure Soothing Magic

Frank Watkinson is the internet’s “virtual granddad.” The septuagenarian began singing on YouTube in 2011. He has done several cover versions of mainstream songs by popular artists from all genres. He has his own elderly man singing style, so even his cover versions will make you think it is new music. One of his recent covers is How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding. @franktwatkinson How long will i love you , #waterboys #acousticcoverss ♬ original sound – Frank Watkinson – Frank Watkinson The description on Frank’s YouTube channel is “Just performing songs my way, nothing too serious, we can’t all be polished professionals, but that shouldn’t be a reason not to sing.” That short sentiment says it all. Frank bought his first guitar at 17, and the elderly man still loves singing. He also writes songs and talked about his song, Miss You, during an interview with Why I Cried on Medium. He wrote that one during the pandemic lockdowns. Frank thinks it might have been a bit too sad, but everyone was sad during that period. Frank’s emotions don’t shut off. He states that when he covers a song, he tries to imagine the mood and tone of the writer. Sad songs make him sad, and that comes through in his version. He admits that he has never been good with happy songs because he “can’t pull cheerfulness off.” In real life, he is a cheerful man, but he can’t convey that in song. We’re pretty sure Frank will keep making music until he can’t. He has 1.11 million subscribers on YouTube. He has gradually been adding other social media sites. You can find him on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, where he is gaining followers. He may not appreciate his own talent, but this elderly man singing has captured our hearts. Please share.
