Tiny Pet Chicken Does The Sweetest Thing When She Finds A Particularly Tasty Morsel In Her Food Dish

What do you do when you get an especially delicious bite of food? Perhaps you pause to savor the moment. Or maybe you do a little happy dance! Reactions like these are not found in humans alone. In fact, there is a term for the way chicken react to good food: tidbitting! This behavior can be found in chicken everywhere, no matter if they are someone’s pet or live out in the wild.
Speaking of which, it is an honor to introduce you to Mary Poppins. No, not that one. This one is a chicken who calls Beazy Farms in California her home. She’s always as cute as can be, but she’s especially so in the video below. In it, you’ll find her tidbitting for her human parent.
@beazyfarms “Tidbitting” is usually done by mama hens teaching their babies about tasty treats, or suave roosters courting ladies through snack offerings (smart guys ). I’m not sure if Mary is expressing her admiration or trying to build my foraging skills, but either way I’m honored . ♬ Let's Eat – Uncle Apple
As this adorable video shows, tidbitting is a sweet way that chicken offer delicious food for the people they care about. When a chicken does this, it’s for her babies. But roosters are also known to tidbit when courting chicken. In both cases, you’ll find the fowl drop a particularly tasty morsel at someone else’s feet as an offering. This lets them know it’s especially good!

Normally, this behavior is reserved for fellow birds. Though, it wouldn’t be shocking if the folks at Beazy Farms have earned the love and affection of this sweet chicken. According to their social media bio, they have over 100 “misfit & special needs animals,” and they’re passionate about giving them the life they deserve.
“I’m not sure if Mary is expressing her admiration or trying to build my foraging skills,” Beazy Farms’ caption reads, “but either way I’m honored.”
