He officially retired from acting in 2020 due to complications associated with Parkinson’s disease, but recently announced his return to the set of Shrinking. Doctors diagnosed Michael with Parkinson’s in 1998 at age 28. He established the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in 2000. For the last 25 years, his championed fundraising to help find a cure. The disease has affected him tremendously physically, but his spirit and enthusiasm haven’t changed. Fox and his wife, Tracy Pollan, took in some tennis at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York during the US Open on September 7. Michael arrived in a wheelchair but stood on the blue carpet for photographs and to speak with the media. “Michael J. Fox arrived on the @usopen blue carpet in a wheelchair, but stood up to greet photographers and even took a quick interview before returning to his seat. A reminder of his unstoppable spirit and grace,” Mickey wrote. Fans continue to be inspired by Michael J. Fox and his determination not to let anything keep him down. “I am so amazed by the strength, love, devotion & courage of his wife as well,” one wrote. “This man is brave and courageous. He has a wonderful wife,” another person shared. This fan found beauty in the moment by writing, “Heartbreaking but cool that he wanted to stand with his amazing wife for the photo.” Michael J.
