McDonald’s launched their Monopoly game in 1987, and it’s been a fan favorite. For nearly 40 years, people have gone crazy collecting game pieces for free food and hoping to match Boardwalk and Park Place for the grand prize. The game’s prizes have been so enticing that a man named Jerry Jacobson defrauded the game to the tune of $24 million between 1989 and 2001. Don’t believe us? The text read rather vaguely, “M0N0pOLY OCTOBER!!!1-844-GT-URBAG….YOU MIGHT WANNA DOWNLOAD MCD APP.” That’s about all McDonald’s will give us. Trusted food Instagrammer Snackolator doesn’t have much more info, but he’s very excited to see the game return. He even joked about its scandalous past. “Monopoly is coming BACK to McDonald’s and i cannot wait… hopefully no documentaries will be made for this one! Details are still scarce but this is happening in October so stay tuned and I’ll update as soon as i know more,” he wrote. “Are you excited to see Monopoly return to McDonald’s?” The news evoked nostalgia in many people for the good old days. “It was probably one of the highlights of my childhood,” someone recalled. “Remember those as a kid maybe looking forward to experiencing this again as a adult,” another person agreed. “As much it seems disappointing to not win money….gotta admit we get excited just to peel off the tabs from a greasy fry cup or a big mac box,” a fan admitted.
