Hikers Take A Private Dip In Remote Hot Spring… Until A Surprise Interloper Intrudes!
Lolita Dickson is a Washington state travel vlogger who loves traveling, nature, and all things outdoors. Her most frequent travel companion is an unidentified man who seems to spend most of his time behind the camera. However, he did accompany Lolita on a recent trip to a Colorado hot spring.
The two wanted to make the most of their trip, so they woke at 7 a.m. to take a secluded dip. It was perfect. A slight foggy mist hung on the ground surrounding the steaming hot spring. Unfortunately, they weren’t as secluded and alone as they thought they were.
@lolitadickson An unexpected guest – Mr. Moose It was one of those moments where you freeze, not sure what to do. Moose was way too close to run, so we just stayed calm and still. Long story short, he wandered right down to the hot spring where we were sitting, took a few sips of the water (yes, kind of gross ), then casually strolled down the mountain to munch on more grass. Definitely one of the coolest, wildest moments of our trip . . #colorado #hotspring ♬ Ethereal – Txmy
A huge moose decided to take an inspection tour of the hot springs just as the couple was settling in for their relaxing dip. The moose went to the edge of the pool behind and across from Lolita’s companion. The large animal took a quick drink before wandering off again. It added a surreal magic to the moment.
The couple recorded from a second perspective during the encounter. The joy on Lolita’s face as she peers over her shoulder at the meandering animal is unmistakable. The moose did not seem bothered at all by the humans sitting in his drinking water. He just dropped in, then wandered out as if he hadn’t even noticed them.
@lolitadickson Challenge accepted At 7am in the Colorado mountains, cold and rainy, we decided the best way to warm up was a soak in the hot springs right next to our campsite. We thought we’d have it all to ourselves… BUT turns out the locals had other plans #colorado #hotsprings ♬ Ethereal – Txmy
Moose are typically solitary animals, except during breeding season. If they sense a threat, they will flee and are usually passive unless threatened or encroached upon. Make sure to never approach a moose with a calf, though!
You can follow Lolita on her travels on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Although many of her forays are in the Pacific Northwest, she also travels abroad and throughout Canada. As a cancer survivor, every day is magical, and that is portrayed in all her videos.
