"One of the challenges you have in a case like this is that you are dealing with individuals who are receiving medical care and that's, obviously, the most important thing, that individuals are treated appropriately," Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears said.
"But once we were provided with additional information about the victim's current medical condition, it became clear to us that additional charges needed to be filed," Mears added.

ESPN has more:
Mears said his office received an amended probable cause affidavit Monday, which led to the additional charge because the truck driver suffered serious injuries.
Mears added that prosecutors are still investigating the incident and that Sanchez, 38, could face additional charges.
On Sunday, Sanchez was charged with battery with injury, public intoxication and unlawful entry of a vehicle -- all misdemeanors.
Sanchez had been scheduled for a court hearing Tuesday on the original charges but that was rescheduled to Nov. 4. Sanchez remains hospitalized and was listed in stable condition Monday morning.

Sanchez is now facing felony charges following an alleged fight with a 69-year-old grease truck driver. According to witnesses and the driver, Sanchez was the aggressor and bodyslammed the driver," Collin Rugg wrote.
"The man says he was making a delivery when Sanchez told him he couldn't park in the alley and told him to leave. After Sanchez allegedly started attacking him, the man says he tried using pepper spray on Sanchez before stabbing him multiple times in the chest. The delivery driver also suffered graphic injuries, including a gash to the cheek so deep that it went through and damaged his tongue," he added.

Yahoo Sports noted:
While there was some uncertainty over what happened initially, security cameras at the scene reportedly align closely with the story the alleged victim told police. The man, who was identified in police reports as P.T., arrived at the Westin hotel to exchange cooking oil from the establishment. When he arrived, P.T. claimed that Sanchez said P.T. could not be there. Sanchez then allegedly followed the driver, eventually preventing him from reaching his cellphone.
The situation escalated to the point of physical danger, causing P.T. to pull out pepper spray and use it on Sanchez. The former quarterback was fazed for only a moment, and then allegedly attacked P.T. Fearing for his life, P.T. then took out a knife and stabbed Sanchez a few times. Sanchez allegedly continued the assault until he was stabbed one more time. Sanchez then reportedly ran off. He was later found at a nearby bar. Both men were hospitalized.
Despite being stabbed, Sanchez is the one facing charges from the incident. Graphic images of the alleged victim circulated on social media Sunday. Those images appear to show serious bodily harm to the alleged victim, which may have led to the Level 5 felony being applied.
