Riley Green Says He’s Relating To Dierks Bentley’s Heartbreaker “Settle For A Slowdown” A Lot Right Now: “They’re All Leaving”
C’mon Riley… I have a hard time believing this is true.
Country music star Riley Green is currently wrapping up his 2025 tour dates, and he also just dropped a fantastic deluxe edition of his third studio album, Don’t Mind If I Do.
And while he has had an incredible year from a music and career standpoint, Riley’s dating life is always a hot topic among fans, and I think we all know about how desperately they tried to figure out if he and duet partner Ella Langley were ever more than friends (both consistently denied the rumors), and they also speculated he might have something going on with Megan Moroney earlier this year.
Riley has rarely gone public with any girlfriends he’s had over the years, and over and over, he has said he’s single when asked about his dating life, but who knows what has really gone on behind the scenes… Riley’s obviously a good looking guy, so I’m sure he’s had tons of girlfriends over the years, and maybe he just doesn’t want his personal life in the spotlight.
And during a recent interview with host Cody Alan on SiriusXM’s The Highway, Riley once again confirmed that he’s single. When asked about what current song describes his dating life, Riley responded it was Dierks Bentely’s “Settle For a Slowdown,” because “they’re all leaving”:
“Let’s just do, ‘Settle for a Slowdown.’ They’re all leaving.”
I find that hard to believe, but even if he’s dating or having any sort of flings in his private life, it sounds like it’s nothing too serious. When asked what the “hottest” thing a girl can cook for him is, Riley had a shockingly simple, and somewhat strange, answer, saying he wants someone who can make scrambled eggs:
“The hottest thing? You mean like temperature, like spicy. Or I would be like, ‘That’s really hot. She’s cooking it.’ Probably scrambled eggs because you can mess it up, you know? You can a little bit. Yeah.”
Well that’s going to put a lot of ladies in the running because I couldn’t think of a more simple thing to make…
Riley then explained that the one thing he might mess up on a first date is his pronunciation of certain words:
“The type of wine I order off the menu. Like instead of Francis Coppola, at times, I’ll call it Frankie Coppola. You know what I mean? You can see how that might be embarrassing to somebody.”
He loves a good Sauvy B, but he sometimes gets that one wrong too:
“Oh, Sauvignon Blanc. But I call it Southern Blonde.”
Honestly, why hasn’t someone made a wine called Southern Blonde? I need it…
Riley also spoke about how he’s about to go back into the studio and cut some songs for his next record, so it sounds like we might have a new album to look forward to next year too:
“We’re in the studio about to start cutting songs for the next record so it kind of doesn’t slow down when you have something that works. I have, I think on the creative side it doesn’t really slow down, you know, and people might think when you have a big record or something it kinda like, ‘Well I can relax.’ And that’s just not the case, you know. It’s really like, ‘Where’s the next one at?’ You know?
And for me, when I was writing all the songs for ‘Don’t Mind If I Do,’ it really never stopped, you know. I was kind of in that mindset of I need a lot of songs right now. And it’s exciting to be able to continually record new music. I think that’s the most fun part of it is writing and recording. Yeah. I think it’s a balance.
So that, I think you have to use that as motivation to make yourself right when you, you know, I mean, I might play five or six shows in a row and sit my guitar down and not wanna look at it for two weeks, you know? And I think the fact that I enjoy songwriting so much allows me to continue to do it, but at the same time, it’s keeping that motivation and then also keeping it light enough to where you’re not trying to force something is the constant battle.”
I think Riley has been putting out some of the best music of his career over the last couple of years, so I can’t wait to hear what he has in the works and hopefully it will be out sooner rather than later.

Not sure I fully believe this is his current anthem, though…
