“Our Son Hasn’t Seen His Best Friend From Canada Since We Moved To Florida…”
Amine Elmo moved his entire family from Canada to Florida a year ago. Although they are adjusting to the change, his son is missing his best friend. The two families coordinated and flew his best friend to Florida for a reunion. They did not tell Amine’s son.
When the family went to the airport, Amine’s son was oblivious, almost walking past his friend without even noticing him. When his best friend, also eager for the reunion, tapped him on the shoulder. He turned, and the two hugged, tears of joy and smiles on their faces.

It was only a short, four-day visit, but the two best friends packed as much into their reunion as they could. It was as if no time had passed. The boys were inseparable and had a blast. Major core memories became the order of the day. Whether they were in a science museum or walking along the sidewalk, the boys were enjoying each other’s company.
Before they knew it, it was time to say goodbye. The boys weren’t ready to part, but they knew they had no choice. A final hug as they part ways. And then one more final hug because it’s just too soon. Four days were not enough time.

When two kids are this close, it doesn’t seem fair to keep them apart. Unfortunately, family plans don’t always accommodate friendships. Hopefully, they will be able to plan for a longer trip next summer, either back in Canada or again in Florida.
With FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, and other means of communication, at least the boys can keep in touch in between visits. Hopefully, the next reunion for these best friends lasts longer than four short days.
Please share.
