James Van Der Beek, who played Dawson Leery on the iconic drama Dawson’s Creek, has been battling cancer since 2003. The father of six had to miss the show’s reunion, which took place on September 22. But he sent a video message to share his love with his dear friends from the cast and crew. James’ video concerned many fans due to his shockingly thin appearance. Less than a month later, his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, posted a great photo of him and her father-in-law on Instagram to let everyone know James is doing well. “Father and Son are both looking fantastic and healthy! I love your family so so much and the love you have for one another,” a fan shared. “Omg he looks great! He looks so much better than the reunion video call. We were so alarmed. He and Kimberly left Los Angeles and moved the family to Texas several years ago, and it’s been a wonderful transition for everyone. “We’ve got a great spot where we can go watch the sun go down and the kids can play. I put up a bunch of ropes in the trees and they can run around and swing and kick the soccer ball and throw the football,” he told Business Insider. “There is no shortage of things to do for sure.” Just a few days before Kimberly’s post, James Van Der Beek wished their youngest son, Jeremiah, a happy birthday. “4 years old today. After 2 late-term losses, we thought we were done. Thank God you knew better,” he wrote on Instagram. “An iron will combined with an innate sweetness. And ALL boy.
