Country Star Jordan Davis Shares Hilarious DMs He’s Received From Philadelphia Eagles Fans Thinking He’s Their Star Defensive Tackle

Surprisingly wholesome. There’s no doubt that country music and football have always shared a special connection. From current stars such as Riley Green, Gavin Adcock, Chase Rice and Koe Wetzel all playing college football in the past to the countless odes and references from the likes of Kenny Chesney on “Boys of Fall,” Megan Moroney on “Tennessee Orange” and more, you never have to look very far in the genre to find a nod to the sport. Though he never played football in college, country star Jordan Davis shares a special connection to the world of football, but not quite how you might think. Of course, Davis has made a name for himself in the genre with his pop-influenced hits such as “Singles You Up,” “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot,” “Take It From Me” and his recent #1 single, “Bar None.” With that being said, however, he has backed them up with the occasional gem with tracks like the CMA Song of the Year-winning “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan, “Tucson Too Late” and “Next Thing You Know” all being rock-solid modern country songs. There was a time when the 37-year-old singer/songwriter was the only famous Jordan Davis. However, that all changed when the Philadelphia Eagles drafted stand-out Georgia defensive lineman, also named Jordan Davis, as their first-round draft pick back in 2022. Despite country music’s Davis being a 5’10”, white, bearded singer and the Eagles’ Davis being a 6’6″, black, 330+ pound runstopper, it hasn’t stopped fans of both from confusing the two’s social media handles in the past. Back in October 2023, the pair of Jordans actually met for the first time at the “I Ain’t Sayin'” singer’s Philadelphia show at The Met. Hanging out before the concert, the Eagles’ defensive lineman would give the country star his jersey before commenting that he’d get messages from fans telling him how much they enjoyed “his” concerts in the past. “I’m sure you get your fair share of tags. I’ll be sitting there [and get someone saying], ‘I loved your concert.’ And I’m like, ‘I just had practice today. What are you talking about?” @philadelphiaeagles Jordan Davis Jordan Davis #jordandavis #singer #countrymusic #eagles #nfl ♬ original sound – Philadelphia Eagles Last month, however, the mix-up between the two Jordans was reignited once again. In case you missed it, the Philadelphia defensive lineman scooped up the game-winning field goal attempt and ran it back 61 yards to score the game-winning touchdown as time expired to complete the Eagles’ 19-point comeback against the Los Angeles Rams. The play was nothing short of spectacular from Davis, who hit a staggering 18.59 mph, the fastest by a player over 330 pounds since at least 2017, during the run. Unfortunately, some messages were going to the wrong Jordan Davis. In a recent interview with Barstool’s Hannah Montoya, the country star noted that he began receiving an increase of direct messages on Instagram from Eagles fans mistaking him yet again with the Eagles star after the blocked field goal, recalling some of the love “he” received from the Philly faithful. “This is why I love Eagles fans. I’m Jordan Davis official. I think he’s Jordan Davis 99 on Instagram. So when he blocked that field goal and took it back for a touchdown, I had so many direct messages from people thinking they’re sending messages to Jordan Davis. It’s the best fan base in the world. Just reading some of these, I almost wanted to text Jordan and be like, ‘Dude, I need to screenshot you these messages because they love you.’ They’re like, ‘Dude, I never gave up on you. I knew you were [going to be good].’ It was like these heartfelt grown men expressing how much they love Jordan Davis. ‘You did it for Philly, dude. Thank you so much, 99.'” When asked by Montoya if he ever responds to Eagles fans, Davis said no. However, he would joke that he might start replying to them, just to promote new releases. “I should have hit them back, be like, ‘Dude, thanks man. Check out my new single.”  I’m not quite sure how fans continually mix up the two. I mean, look at them. With that being said, I can’t help but love the relationship the two have formed, simply by having the same exact name.
