The 80-year-old grandmother from New Jersey became the oldest woman in history to complete the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on October 12. The infamously grueling race includes a full 26.2-mile marathon, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 2.4-mile swim. Ironman shared a video of Natalie’s finish, and it’s nothing short of remarkable.

Natalie Grabow Has An Incredible Origin Story
According to NPR, Natalie didn’t learn how to swim until she was 59 years old. But in order to achieve big fitness goals, she had to learn.
“It was a big hurdle I had to overcome,” she shared in an email to NPR, “in order to do a triathlon.”
At 80 years old, Natalie finished the Ironman in 16:45:26, nearly 15 minutes before the 17-hour cutoff. The same day, more than 60 of the 1,600 athletes who began the race did not finish.
“I am so happy and grateful that I can still race in this sport at my age,” she said. “Triathlon allows me to feel strong both mentally and physically, and it satisfies my competitive spirit.”
Natalie Grabow’s performance astonished people.
“The definition of ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it.’ To do Kona at aged 80 would be the result of unwavering discipline and a lifetime of movement,” a fan share in the Instagram comment section. “Simply outstanding!
“I literally can’t stop watching this. I’m beyond impressed, hopeful and inspired by this woman,” another person shared.
