THE SCRAMBLED BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for October 23th, 2025
The new mag is out…
Hey,
This is wild, I kicked into gear at 7:00 a.m. and about 11:00 forced myself out of my wobbling chair to make a morsel for breakfast. I discussed everything from Easyriders logos to events, advertisers, staff, insurance, trademarks to articles for this issue.
I shifted from legal matters to the angle of the article about signing of the agreement to acquire the company. Holy shit.
Let’s hit the news:
The News was provided by the Bikernet Team including: Wayfarer, the Redhead, Bob T. Sam Burns, Rogue, Laura, Barry Green, El Waggs, J.J. Solari, Amy White, Jenn and the rest of the crew.
The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown, BorntoRide.com and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.

TEXAS WEATHER REPORT–
We did make BF4, I’ll send some info & pics after today at some point. We went a bit out of the way, probably due to my 2nd Police Certified Speedometer with its new cable starting to fail on the final leg to the event. When it goes from 80 mph back around to 10 mph and you can hear it making noise internally at that speed, with ear plugs & a helmet that’s wild! HD Police Certified speedometers don’t hold up very well, needle fell off the other & original was damaged with the previous owner.
Think I may use GPS on my phone, but want to track mileage still.

2025 ADV CANNONBALL RALLY
More than 3500 Miles and 100 Checkpoints across America!
Forty riders rolled out from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, for the inaugural ADV Cannonball Rally on October 6th, 2025, the first-ever coast-to-coast challenge of its kind. Eight days, ten states, and over 3,500 miles later, the group crossed the finish line at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach, California. Out of forty starters, only two riders chose to DNF, an impressive testament to the grit and determination that define the ADV spirit.
Riders ranged from their 30s to their 70s and came aboard an eclectic mix of machines: a sea of GSAs, a couple of RTs, a pair of Pan Americas, a Can-Am, a DR650, even a classic CBX, and one brave soul piloting a 900-pound Indian bagger.
The ADV Cannonball Rally is a competitive cross-country checkpoint rally built for those who crave adventure with a dash of friendly competition. Points are tracked and calculated automatically via the custom-built Rally App; which the organizers have now made available for other events. Riders navigate over 100 checkpoints on both paved and optional off-pavement routes, earning bonus points in true Cannonball fashion for those chasing the overall winner’s trophy. While there are only “steak knives” for second place, many participants proudly chased the Checkpoint Crusher or Rough Rider awards. Every finisher, however, earned the coveted ADV Cannonball medal and the right to brag.
Over eight grueling (and glorious) days, riders logged long hours in the saddle, with evenings spent swapping stories and sharing laughs at the official rally hotels. Friends, family, and fans followed along in real time via the live leaderboard and GPS tracking page. By day three, it was clear that only a handful of riders remained in contention for the overall trophy, while the rest soaked in the adventure, chasing personal goals and unforgettable miles.
The final day tested everyone’s resolve, with flash flood warnings, high winds, and rockslides, and yet, the start line erupted with laughter when #12 attempted to hop on one leg to his GSA after slipping in a mudslide near Los Alamos.
At the Cannonball Monument and the rainy Portofino finish, riders were met by cheering family members, volunteers, and the rally team. Taylor Lawson, host of the ADV Cannonball Podcast, flew in from Europe to officiate the awards banquet, which is recapped in Season 4, Episode 1 of the podcast.
One of the highlights came from rider #5, Robert Baldinger, a YouTuber debuting his feature film at a dealership-sponsored red-carpet premiere in Sweden this November. The film, featuring an entirely original soundtrack now on Spotify, will premiere globally on YouTube on November 14, 2025.
While the ADV Cannonball Rally may not be for everyone, every finisher crossed that line with pride, camaraderie, and a story to tell. One rider entered to win a trophy to match his wife’s. Another, having survived heart surgery the year before, sought to mark his comeback with a Cannonball finish. Others came simply to ride, explore, and connect, and that’s exactly what they did.
Looking ahead, the 2026 North American route promises to be longer, tougher, and even more spectacular. Ten riders have already signed up, including “the Waz,” in his 60s, and Iron Man Mark, who broke his leg, totaled his 1300GSA, and still reached the finish line smiling.
The organizers are already scouting for the 2027 European ADV Cannonball Rally, having shipped GSAs from LA to Europe to plan the next great adventure.
We couldn’t be prouder of this year’s riders and volunteers. With a few regulatory updates and fresh ideas in motion, the ADV Cannonball Rally is set to get even better every year. Stay tuned, the adventure has only just begun.

To Fear or Not to Fear
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” — Viktor E. Frankl
Life can often feel confusing and uncertain. Many of us don’t know if we are coming or going. Some have lost their jobs, seen businesses slow to a crawl, or been unable to connect with family and friends. Even those in positions of authority often lack the answers we long to hear.
And then, there’s the constant stream of bad news from the media—so much fear, so much doubt. It’s easy to feel consumed by it all. Yet the real question is: how much energy do we give to fear? Does it hold us hostage, keeping us from cherishing the good memories of our past? Does it steal the joy of our present moment or cloud the promise of our future?
For years, I understood FEAR as False Evidence Appearing Real. But I’ve also come to love another meaning, one shared by my Spiritual Leader: Face Everything And Rise. This one speaks to my soul—it reminds me that we are never powerless.
We always have a choice. In every situation, we can look for the Good. We can pause, breathe, and step into our sacred inner space—our God space—to find strength and clarity. From this place of stillness and Faith, fear begins to dissolve. We remember that there is a Power greater than ourselves, a Presence that is always guiding, supporting, and lifting us.
Let us remember that we are greater than our fears. Each time we rise above them, we awaken to a Higher Level of Consciousness. Within us lies the Power to dissolve difficulty, remove obstruction, and renew our lives. Through daily practice, we strengthen our Faith—and with that, fear melts away.
Today’s Affirmation
Today I choose to raise my level of Faith in the Power within me. I release all fear and replace it with Faith and Trust. I refuse to be held hostage by fear. I am grateful for who I am and for this precious Life. Like an acorn growing into a mighty oak, I grow into the fullest expression of myself. I give thanks for this Truth and move forward fearlessly, knowing Life is truly great from this moment on. I Face Everything And Rise.
And So It Is!
Namaste.
Contemplative Questions
What fears am I holding on to that are keeping me from experiencing peace in this moment?
How can I shift my focus from fear to Faith today?
What might my life look like if I chose to Face Everything And Rise—every single time?

DIRECT FROM COMPETITION DISTRIBUTING–Kickstarts & Chronicles Eugene Walker & Indian
Article from Archive Moto
After having laid waste to numerous motorcycle land speed records on the sands at Daytona Beach in February 1920, Harley-Davidson and their star Wrecking Crew racer Red Parkhurst savored the accolades that poured in from every corner of the country. However, though Parkhurst could claim that he was officially the fastest man on two wheels on the planet, his crown would soon be snatched by a wiry southern boy on a crimson rocket.
Veterans of the fast sands at Daytona, the Indian boys from Springfield, led by co-founder and speed-obsessed engineer Oscar Hedstrom, had been the first motorcycles to compete back in 1903. Indian then returned to Florida’s northeastern shore a number of times to prove that they were the company to beat. Since the lionized days of the motordrome took over in the early teens, however, the coastline had lost its hold on the two-wheeled speed demons and the boys from Indian preferred setting their records on America’s timber tracks. That was of course, until Red Parkhurst, Otto Walker, and Freddie Ludlow decided to return to Daytona to light the sand a blaze in February of 1920. Harley had set a high bar with their new two-cam engine platform, but Indian was determined not to allow Milwaukee the glory for long.
Two months later, on April 12th, 1920, the train car from Springfield was unloaded in Ormond Beach, and four crates holding within them four factory racing Indians set out for the beach. Indian’s long-time competition workhorse, the 8-Valve, was sent, as was a single cylinder 30.50ci 4-Valve version. The factory also sent a 61ci production Power Plus side valve twin, but perhaps most significant was a new racing version built off of the same platform. The new engine was a side valve motor with new internals, modified cylinders, and a special Schebler carburetor, all set into a new keystone frame. As a result of the accomplishments made with this new machine in Florida the engine would become known as the “Daytona,” a crown jewel of Indian performance for years to come. To pilot the machines Indian selected their young star rider from Birmingham, Alabama, Gene Walker, a lightning fast natural talent who garnered the respect and admiration of all of his peers. In hopes of securing the national and international amateur records as well, Indian asked Walker to choose an amateur teammate, so he selected a local friend Herbert McBride to accompany him on the attempt.
Over the next 3 days Walker and McBride tore apart the scorecard set back in February by Parkhurst and the Wrecking Crew gents, between them setting 24 new American and world speed records. Eugene Walker inked his name in as the world’s fastest man on two wheels by establishing new records in the kilometer, 1, 2, and 5 mile distances on every machine at his disposal. Onboard the 61ci 8-Valve warhorse, Walker officially covered a kilometer, the international standard of speed in those days, at a rate of 115.79 mph. Walker’s speed was nearly 12 mph faster than Parkhurst’s when he ran out Harley-Davidson’s new two cam 8-Valve, but it also bested Parkhurst’s run on the over-regulation 68ci 8-Valve Harley by over 3 mph. On average Walker’s speeds were 5-10 mph faster than those of the Harley crew. Herbert McBride, the Birmingham machinist turned lose on the Springfield factory’s finest machines swept the amateur record books clean as well, setting new times in the Kilometer, 1, 2, and 5 mile distances onboard each of the 4 machines. McBride topped out onboard the Indian factory 8-Valve at just over 104 mph and on average his speeds were around 5 mph faster than the existing records, even beating a few of the professional times established by Red Parkhurst a couple of months prior.

Fine-Tune Your Ride: Take Control with Compression Adjustability
WHY IS COMPRESSION IMPORTANT?
The compression adjustment on Legend Suspensions’ REVO-ARC shocks allows riders to fine-tune how firm or soft their suspension feels during the compression stroke—the moment the shock is being compressed under load. Located on the shock’s canister (available on both piggyback and remote reservoir models), this adjustment uses an internal needle valve to control the flow of oil inside the shock. Turning the dial clockwise closes the valve, restricting oil flow to slow down compression and create a firmer, more controlled ride—ideal for aggressive riding or heavier loads. Turning it counterclockwise opens the valve, allowing oil to move more freely for a softer, more compliant feel. Each setting is designed with precise, audible “clicks” to make fine-tuning your suspension quick, repeatable, and rider-specific.
Being able to adjust compression gives riders the ability to customize how their motorcycle feels and performs for different conditions, loads, and riding styles. With adjustable compression, you can fine-tune how much resistance the suspension provides when it’s being compressed—essentially controlling how “soft” or “firm” the ride feels.
The benefits include:
Improved comfort: Softer compression allows the suspension to absorb bumps and rough roads more effectively, providing a smoother, more comfortable ride.
Better handling and control: Firmer compression helps keep the bike stable under hard braking, aggressive cornering, or when carrying a passenger or heavy load.
Enhanced traction: By maintaining consistent tire contact with the road, adjustable compression improves grip and overall ride confidence.
Versatility: Riders can adapt their setup for different situations—like long-distance touring, solo riding, or performance-oriented riding—without compromising safety or comfort.
In short, compression adjustability puts control in the rider’s hands, allowing them to dial in their suspension for the perfect balance of comfort, performance, and stability.
