“When You Find A Whole Skunk Trapped In A Skate Bowl At 5 A.M.”

Skunks stink. As a result, not many people are willing to help them when they get into precarious predicaments. That was not the case for one brave man who discovered a skunk trapped in the bowl at a Reading, Pennsylvania, skate park. Danielle Galvin, who was out walking her dog at 5 a.m., recorded the skunk rescue. A skate bowl is similar to an empty in-ground swimming pool. It has steep walls that drop into a rounded bowl. Skateboarders perform tricks by using the walls and rounded bottom to maintain momentum. For a skunk, the bowl is an inescapable trap. When the unidentified man saw the trapped skunk, he set about to rescue it. @daniellegalvin5 Had To Do A Double Take, Thought I Was Tripping, Only In Reading ! #readingpennsylvania #pennsylvania #skunk ♬ Jet2 Advert – A7-BBH | MAN The man knew he couldn’t just drop into the bowl and pick the skunk up to rescue it. He devised a brilliant plan. Hooking a dog leash to his skateboard, he lowered the board and leash handle into the bowl. The smart skunk took hold of the leash in its mouth, and the man gently pulled it up to safety. Once the skunk was on level ground, the man slowly backed away. The skunk didn’t want to let go. Unsure what to do, the man put the skateboard down on the wheels and let the skunk waddle off. Fortunately, the little skunk only dragged the board a few feet before dropping the leash and running into some underbrush. Not everyone would attempt to rescue a wild animal, and fewer would rescue a skunk. Kudos to this selfless man and to Dani for catching this and posting it on TikTok. Perhaps skunks have an innate desire to skateboard. It is a fact that this is not the first one trapped in a skate park. Please share. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here.
