Morgan Wallen Tells Police Officer Not To Play Any Chris Young During Ride To The Station Following Arrest At Chief’s: “Hell No… He’s Terrible”
No Morgan Wallen and Chris Young collabs coming anytime soon…
And I’m more than okay with that….
By now, most country fans know about the infamous “chair-throwing incident” at Eric Church’s downtown Nashville bar, Chief’s, that made headlines last year. Country superstar Morgan Wallen was arrested and charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct after allegedly tossing a chair from the rooftop of the six-story bar. He later pled guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment in Davidson County Court in December 2024.
Wallen’s sentence included two years of probation and seven days in jail, to be served at a DUI education center. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident — though the story continues to follow him months later. Earlier this month, bodycam footage from the night of his arrest surfaced, showing Wallen talking with police before being handcuffed and driven away.
In the video, obtained by the Associated Press from the Metro Nashville Police Department, both Wallen and his bodyguard denied that he threw the chair. Wallen can be heard telling officers, “I ain’t done nothing wrong.” He also called his friend and bar owner, Eric Church, to explain what was happening. Church can’t be heard on the recording, but there’s was much Eric could do regardless.
Unfortunately for Morgan, officers were able to determine after watching the security camera footage that he was in fact the suspect behind the flying chair, and the country superstar was cuffed and placed in the back of the cruiser.
More police bodycam footage has been released over the last several days, which shows more of Morgan’s ride in the back of the cop car, and when he was booked at the station. Ultimately, it was a pretty funny video, and Morgan is quite the charming character, even when he’s had a few too many. Maybe you can chalk part of it up to being starstruck, but he has everybody laughing… from the time he’s cuffed, to the time he’s booked (the woman at the station hilariously processed him the last time he was arrested downtown).
Although… something tell me Chris Young won’t be laughing…
Morgan and Officer Lopez, as Morgan refers to him in the footage, go on to discuss their favorite country music artists, after Morgan asks who he listens to. The officer admits that Morgan is one of his favorites, and also says he loves Zach Bryan and Josh Turner. Morgan says he knows who Bryan is, but hasn’t ever really listened to his music, though he admits that he loves Josh Turner and has listened to him since he was a kid.
And during their discussion about favorite country music singers, Morgan goes onto say that he just hopes they don’t hear any Chris Young, because “he’s terrible” and Morgan is clearly not a fan of his music at all. Morgan suggests they listen to his friends Hardy or Ernest instead:
“Please do not play any Chris Young on this mother******. Oh hell no, he’s terrible.” Play Hardy or Ern.”
Morgan has never publicly said anything about Young or his music before, and obviously he refrains from calling out fellow country artists in particular, but I’m guessing he’d been drinking and probably forgot everything was being recorded during parts of this conversation, and honestly, it’s pretty funny.
At some point during the drive, Morgan tells the officer he knew where they were going because he’d been there before, and considering this is most people’s worst nightmare, Morgan remained pretty calm and actually enjoyed hearing himself on the radio when Thomas Rhett came on singing their duet, “Mamaw’s House.”
Chris Young out here catching strays, man…
