Ella Langley Says She’ll Never Tell Who “Choosin’ Texas” Is About

Her lips are sealed. Just about a week or so ago, Ella Langley released a new single “Choosin’ Texas,” and per the usual, fans are trying to figure out who it’s about. When the song was announced and Ella shared the album cover, fans were quick to notice that it looks strikingly similar to the viral picture of Megan and Riley. The cowboy hat and vintage car are uncanny and very much look like what we see Riley wear these days, and of course, the girl has long blonde hair that should look very familiar to country music fans. I’m sure Ella will never confirm nor deny any of it, but sometimes, you have to take the hint and read between the lines… Take a look at the cover art for yourself and see what you think: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ella Langley (@ellalangleymusic) The history between this love triangle of sorts, if that’s what you want to call it, goes back to when Ella released her hit song with Riley Green “You Look Like You Love Me.” Moroney eventually got pulled into the rumors about a love triangle after she was spotted hanging out with Riley, and it became a huge story. People are still trying to get to the bottom of it. The theory about Megan and Riley really gained traction after they were first spotted at Riley’s Nashville bar, Duck Blind, and later were seen riding around in Riley’s Chrysler LeBaron convertible in his hometown of Jacksonville, Alabama. The viral TikTok is available to see HERE. And Ella stirred those rumors back up this weekend while playing at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia. She had a little fun with the lyrics of “Choosin’ Texas” during the show, changing them to reflect the state she was in. In the song, Langley typically sings the bridge as: “When I’m eastbound and down and I can’t help but cry‘Cause I-40 gets lonelier with every mileI’ll know that his mind wasn’t ever gonna change‘Cause his heart still belongs to the Lone Star State” During the show, she changed the lyrics to reflect a nickname of Athens, Georgia: “When I’m eastbound and down and I can’t help but cry‘Cause I-40 gets lonelier with every mileI’ll know that his mind wasn’t ever gonna change‘Cause his heart still belongs to the Bulldog state” @alyelliejoe @Ella Langley !!!! #ellalangley #choosintexas #dawgs #athensga ♬ original sound – Alyssa Jones It’s pretty common for country music artists to change the lyrics of songs to reflect the town they are playing in, just to get the crowd goin and feel acknowledged that the artist is excited to be in their state But some took it as a s hot at Megan Moroney and Riley Green, given that Megan is a known Georgia native and Bulldogs fan. That set the internet on fire, but during that same show, Ella told the crowd that there was a fan near the front of the stage who was trying to get her to “spill the tea” on who the song is about, and Ella was very clear in letting them know that would never happen, saying she “ain’t ever gonna do that.” She did play it for them, though… “This girl’s up here, she’s trying to get me to spill the tea on who it’s about. Baby, I ain’t ever gonna do that. I ain’t never gonna do that. But I am gonna play the song, it’s called ‘Choosin’ Texas.'” I don’t think it matters who the song is about, because I think it’s one of the best she’s ever put out, and it’s certainly my personal favorite. Though I don’t think Ella saying she’ll never tell will ever stop the rumors, either… @theartteachersthe @Ella Langley This is why we love her! #girlsgirl #choosintexas #georgiatheatre #athens ♬ original sound – TheArtTeachersTherapy Ella wrote this song with Miranda Lambert, Joy Beth Taylor, and Luke Dick, and Miranda also produced it and provided background vocals too.
