Doorbell Camera Catches Harrowing Moment Mom Saves Children From Bus Fire
When a person becomes a parent, many things change. Not only will they protect their own children, but they will also do their best to protect any child who needs their help. Kari Thorp is one such mother, Inside Edition reported. She lives with her family just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota, and recently went to pick up her 6-year-old daughter from the bus when she saw something shocking. Unbeknownst to the bus driver, one of the tires was on fire. Kari ran to alert the driver and help get the kids to safety.
“I just wanted to get them off as quickly as we can because I didn’t know what was going to happen, and I didn’t know how fast this fire … like if it was going to explode right then and there or what,” the terrified mom told Inside Edition.
Kari Thorp Helped Get Nearly Two Dozen Kids Off The Fiery Bus
Kari Thorp and the bus driver, identified by People as Rick Gratton, rushed to get all 22 children off the bus and onto Kari’s porch safely. Remarkably, Kari’s doorbell camera captured the entire terrifying ordeal. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the bus was a total loss. Had it not been for one very observant mom, who knows what could have happened?
Many shared their gratitude for Kari Thorpe’s heroics on YouTube.
“This mom has eagle vision, & she & the bus driver are both heroes. If that mom hadn’t seen the smoke, the bus driver & most of the kids probably wouldn’t be alive,” someone wrote. “God put that mom where she needed to be.”
“That heroic mom didn’t just save her kid but all those kids that’s a true mother,” another person agreed.
Kari Thorp’s actions evoked many emotions.
“Love the mom truly saving kids. Saved dozens of parents from losing there kids. A real hero. Tearing up seeing her action, as I have a son. She is a real heroine,” a comment reads.
