Chris Young Seemingly Responds To Morgan Wallen Calling Him “Terrible” With A Video Of Cardi B Thanking Her Haters

Shots fired? To say that it’s been an interesting few weeks for Chris Young would be nothing short of an understatement. After releasing his tenth studio album, I Didn’t Come Here To Leave, on October 17, the “Tomorrow” singer would be caught up in a media firestorm after multiple videos went viral during his set at Boots in the Park in Tucson, Arizona, alleging that he was drunk while performing at the festival. This was thanks in part to a video of Young performing his 2015 #1 hit, “I’m Comin’ Over,” going viral, which was uploaded by TikTok user, @SCDOWDY, with the caption: “When you pay over a hundred dollars to see Chris Young and he’s drunkedy drunk drunk. WOW.” @scdowdy87 When you pay over a hundred dollars to see @Chris Young and he’s drunkedy drunk drunk. WOW #bootsinthepark #tornupcountry #ChrisYoungRuinedMyBirthday@Boots In The Park ♬ original sound – SCDOWDY Of course, due to the TikTok user’s caption alleging that he was drunk during the performance, many in the comments were quick to jump to the conclusion that he was under the influence, with others saying he had sounded similarly at past concerts. “His concert that I went to was one of my favorites. This is sad.” “Unacceptable” “Disappointed.” “Omg he sounds horrible” “It’s like watching someone drunk singing karaoke” “He must have a drinking problem, he’s going fast, them slow, up and down in volume. He’s definitely drunk.” Though many were quick to criticize Young on seemingly every corner of the internet, it seemed as if that controversy had died down heading into this week, with the “Gettin’ You Home” singer never publicly giving a statement on the now-viral performance. With that being said, however, Young was quickly launched back into the spotlight yesterday upon the release of more bodycam footage from Morgan Wallen’s now infamous 2024 chair-throwing incident and eventual arrest outside of Eric Church’s bar, Chief’s, on Broadway in Nashville. Long story short, Wallen and Officer Lopez, as the “Last Night” singer refers to him in the footage, go on to discuss their favorite country music artists after he asks who Lopez listens to. The officer admits that Wallen is one of his favorites, and also says he loves Zach Bryan and Josh Turner. Wallen says he knows who Bryan is, but hasn’t ever really listened to his music, though he admits that he loves Josh Turner and has listened to him since he was a kid. And during their discussion about favorite country music singers, Young’s 2024 single, “Young Love & Saturday Nights” can be heard playing on the patrol car’s radio. Hearing it, Wallen goes onto say that he just hopes they don’t hear any more Chris Young, because “he’s terrible” before suggesting they listen to his friends, HARDY or ERNEST, instead. “Please do not play any Chris Young on this mother******. Oh hell no, he’s terrible.” Play Hardy or Ern.” Morgan has never publicly said anything about Young or his music before, and obviously he refrains from calling out fellow country artists in particular, but I’m guessing he’d been drinking and probably forgot everything was being recorded during parts of this conversation. @bodycamclips23 He’s kinda funny… #morganwallen #fyp #viral #bodycam #countrymusic ♬ original sound – BodyCamPolice Though Young has not directly called out Wallen for his drunken, disparaging comments in the bodycam footage, he did take to TikTok last night to upload an interesting video. Along with his German Shepherd, Porter, the 40-year-old singer would upload a “duet” video showing Cardi B’s viral acceptance speech for winning Best New Artist at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music where she thanked her “haters” for helping her win the award along with the caption: “Thanks for all the love on the album!” If you’re not familiar with the clip, here’s a transcript of the viral portion of her speech: “I wanna thank my haters too because they’ve been downloading my stuff so they can hear it and talk crap about it. But it benefits me.” @chrisyoungmusic #duet with @The CEO Social too funny not to post #ididntcomeheretoleave ♬ original sound – The CEO Social Kind of an odd flex, but should Chris really care what Morgan Wallen thinks of his music? Eh, probably not. Hell, Morgan recently admitted that he doesn’t even listen to that much modern-day country music. But given the timing of Wallen’s new bodycam footage surfacing, it’s fairly easy to jump to the conclusion that he’s calling him out here, and he very well might be. However, when you throw in the fact that people were upset over his allegedly drunken performance at Boots in the Park coupled with another album fans didn’t enjoy as much as his earlier work, it very well could have been Young dealing with that instead. Perhaps the most likely answer is Young simultaneously addressing both in one video, but for now, it’s simply speculation. The post Chris Young Seemingly Responds To Morgan Wallen Calling Him “Terrible” With A Video Of Cardi B Thanking Her Haters first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
