Kenny Chesney Reveals He Has No Plans Of Slowing Down Anytime Soon: “I Know What I’m Doing In 2027”
Kenny Chesney has big plans for 2026, but he’s already thinking beyond that.
The “Sun Goes Down” singer has some big things in store for next year, recently announcing that he’s headed back to the Las Vegas Sphere for his second residency after the smashing success of his first run. Just two days after being officially inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame alongside June Carter Cash and Tony Brown, Chesney has formally announced he’s headed back to the Sphere next summer in his second residency titled, I Go Back 2026, with five shows beginning on Friday, June 19, and wrapping up on Saturday, June 27.

Given the production required to make a Sphere show, well, a Sphere show, fans were expecting that Chesney would keep many of the same elements, but it appears that is not going to be the case. Chesney shared that he and his team are currently updating visuals for songs from last year’s set while adding a few new ones that “deserved this 4-D treatment.”
“It’s finally time to make it a REALITY. My first summer at Sphere was so special. Watching you guys experience the magic gave me so many ideas — reworking some songs from last year and adding a few that deserved this 4-D treatment.
There are a lot of ways to play this venue, but I’m pretty sure nobody’s had more fun or brought more joy than No Shoes Nation. If you missed it, come on! And if you were there, come live it again — because this isn’t something you get to do every year.”
In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Ashley Till on his No Shoes Radio show, it’s not just the visuals that are getting a little facelift. Chesney shared that half of the show will be completely different, meaning songs and visuals.
“Yeah, we had to change it some. Half the show’s probably gonna be completely different, and we’re going to change some of it that was not you know… There are some songs that we haven’t done in a while that we’re going to do. That’s the beauty of it because in that environment, you get to do songs you don’t get to do at stadium shows. Right? So we did a lot of that this year, and we’re gonna do some of that next summer.
But I would say, probably, at least half of the show is going to be completely different. Because I wouldn’t want to go to the Sphere one year and then come back the next year and see the exact same thing. It’s like, ‘Oh, well, I went to the circus last year and they did the same thing this year.’”
Sounds like Chesney has his work cut out for him, given he’s in the thick of Sphere production and with the release of his book around the corner. “Heart Life Music” goes on sale in a few short days, on November 4, and his book tour kicks off just before the book is available to the public, with the first stop on November 1.
This man is really always on the go, eh?
Even in the thick of his crazy schedule, Chesney is always looking forward to what’s next, recently telling People that he has no plans to slow down anytime soon. In fact, he already has his 2027 plans in place.
“I love creating. That’s what I’ve always done, so I don’t see (slowing down) in my near future. My life is already so planned out. I know what I’m doing in 2027!”
Chesney shared in the exclusive conversation that he feels most at home on stage, and he’s not giving up that comfortable feeling anytime soon.
“I know this sounds crazy, but to be in front of 60,000 people on stage, that is where I feel the most comfortable in my life. It truly is. Because when we’re up there for two hours, nobody can mess with me or the band. It’s just us giving the audience everything we have, and the audience giving everything back.
That is one of the most unbelievable feelings that I’ve ever felt in my life. It’s my drug of choice. I don’t regret giving my whole adult life to creating because… what a way to live. That’s what I’ve always done.”
It’s evident that Chesney is very passionate about his career, but his job is more than a passion… It’s his one true love in life. Which, in part, is what makes No Shoes Nation so special. He’s spent his whole career not only working to create songs that pay the bills, but also fostering a fanbase unlike any other and creating unique experiences for his fans each night he hits the stage.
“I love what I do. I love making music, and I love being on that stage, more than any place in the world.”
That true love for music and being on stage is what makes Kenny Chesney a generational talent.
While I have no clue what is in the cards for me come 2027, I do hope my 2026 includes a trip to his Sphere shows. If you haven’t seen any footage from his run this summer, check that out before you go.
